New GTO?..or wait on the 05 Charger?

Just wondering if anybody has any opinions on this car. I almost put in an order 2 days ago. However, I saw some shots of the proposed 2005 Dodge Charger, and now I'm not so sure...
Any replies using the cliches "the Holden Monaro looks like sucked caramel" or "the 2004 GTO looks like a Cavalier"... will be deleted!
Only original hand crafted insults may be lobbed.

Don't know what either one of them is supposed to look like so as of now i would say, "Which one is supposed to get the most HP to the ground?"

Since you can NEVER have too much HP, that's the one i would go for.

redh,

agreed on the HP (to ground) thing.

GTO pics via ultimategto.com

0-60 in less than 6 secs...340 HP, and room for the kids!!!

It just doesn't have that menacing look to it for a 340 with a V8. It looks more like a Honda than a Pontiac. I'd say wait it out for the charger.

Now that looks like a nice car.

hcp,

I know! I hope they actually get the thing out!
I usually hate retro designs after a few months...very short honeymoon.

But OMG...that Charger is soooo bad!

The Charger does look sweet. I'd hang tight till it does come out. Not impressed w/ the looks of the GTO.

Think of the people you can smoke at an intersection who think the GTO is a Neon or something.....they'll be surprised when you pull away from the light.

I was really looking forward to the new GTO...until I saw the pics. The engine looks sweet, but it does look like a Neon or some other import. I had thought I might trade in my 2001 Trans Am for a GTO, but no way. I hadn't seen the Charger until a minute ago and that looks very nice. Kind of resembles the new vettes IMO.

that is nice... it's really different. It's got a modern kind of retro feel to it. I'd have to see it first hand before I could give my final $.02 about that.

I'd wait for the 05 Charger.....

when it comes out, test drive both of them and choose.
I must sat that the GTO doesnt have the aggressive look of the charger, but in certain situations that could be an advantage.

Anyway, I'm sure the performance of both cars are pretty similar so if you chose the GTO now it would not be that much of a loss....
