collecting fish with slurp gun HELP FAST
Hey guys i'm driving 3 hours or so tomorrow and im going to collect fish with a slurp gun in the florida keys (im from fort lauderdale). anyway i have the gun scuba gear, a cooler, 2 air pumps, and a heater. is this good enough to keep them alive? im leaving in the am so any suggestions would be real helpfull. im not sure the water temp in about 15 feet of water but i assume i dont need the heater if anything a chiller which i dont have. i will keep the cooler in the car i guess or boat? what do you think? how do i keep the fish at the temp of the ocean so they wont go into shock?. the last question is, i dont have a quarantene tank so can i just freshwater dip them before the tank? or use that copper stuff for ick? help with suggestions in which they dont require me to go to the store tonight if possible thanks John

Hi John
First off, im not trying to sound rude or anything but you might want to get the brochure Fishing Lines i believe is the name of it in any Wal Mart and it shows the fish that are legal to collect for marine tropicals and their limits if you dont know already, they are very stiff about that stuff especially in monroe county. You should be fine with just a cooler but if you arent going home right after your dives then bring the cooler in the room w/you....maybe a powerhead or two for circulation. Have fun! and watch out for them protected areas where they dont allow any collection of any kind

These laws and regulations are for FL, and the collection tools that are allowed are listed also. The only other thing you need to do is look at a marine map and make sure you are not in a marine sactuary. Every thing listed there out side of sactuaries is fair game. Oh and you will need your saltwater fishing license. Which I would assume living in Ft Lauderdale you have one. If not i think its 14 bucks at wal-mart.
