Arrow Thou shalt not fool around in...

    ...Nigeria!!!

Prosecution bigwig Nurulhuda Muhammed Darma prepares to argue the case against Amina Lawal, a 32-year-old mother appealing an adultery conviction in Katsina, Nigeria. A judge has sentenced Lawal to be buried neck-deep in sand and stoned.

Does anyone know if a male adulterer has ever been convicted in a Sharia court in Nigeria? I don't know of any, do you? In every one of these cases that have come up in the press since Sharia courts were introduced in northern Nigeria three years ago, the male involved in the act has been acquitted.

I just looked up the relevant verse in the Koran:

The woman and the man guilty of illegal sexual intercourse, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allâh, if you believe in Allâh and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment. (This punishment is for unmarried persons guilty of the above crime but if married persons commit it, the punishment is to stone them to death, according to Allâh's Law)[].

One would think that a simple amputation would be just as effective in discouraging at least one of the participants. You know, like they do with thieves.

At least the Koran punishes both parties! Amputation would effectively deter one of them, as you said, I think! The woman was probably already circumcised, so death is the only other available form of punishment?... I wonder what the punishment in Saudi Arabia is for a woman caught driving?

And some people complain endlessly about the problems we have in this country, lol!!!

Pffttt Rediculous verdicts and rediculous "crimes". Takes your mind off of hungry children though, doesn't it? We would have to stone entire Hollywood if we start looking into adultery and then we'd have no movies and no movie theaters and no associated jobs and.....
Ahhh, what the hell, stone them all :eek3:
    Kind regards,

So, let's see, the Nigerian Army is acting as peacekeepers in Liberia, right? Does that mean that any unmarried Nigerian soldier caught fooling around gets 100 stripes and any married one gets stoned? Or does it have to take place in Nigeria?

I don't believe they have women in the Nigerian army and I think you have to be a woman to get convicted of something like this. Believe it or not I found three different cases online and in all three cases the man was acquitted. Go figure?
