Wouldn't it make more sense to put RR picture or Visa or Mastercard than a piece of hard currency?

That guy outlived several parrots and tortoises.

Worse than you thought it was??? It's even worse than James Carville thought it would be.

If it weren't so sad, it would be laughable.

It was nice of the feds to warn him ahead of time. That way his attorneys can line up spots on all the T.V. talk shows for today following the hearing.

Should be interesting to hear someone with a Ph.D. in economics argue that he didn't understand how his company was operating.

I move for a change of venue. Anywhere in California should do just fine.

The Houston Chronicle has this nice up-to-date scorecard to help us keep track of the criminal enterprise known as Enron: http://www.chron.com/content/chronic...cial/01/enron/

Talking Security in the Department of Homeland Security!

Several senior Homeland Security officials told The Associated Press that Ridge has indicated in recent weeks he probably will resign after the election, even if Bush wins. They spoke only on condition of anonymity, citing the delicate nature of describing private conversations with their boss.

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/5556588/

You gotta love these Republicans. I haven't laughed so much in ages!

And Ridge is a Marine, too! "Loose lips sink ships!"

OK, I guess that was before his time. In fact, I may be the only one here who remembers that one. Maybe he should ask Rev. Ashcroft to "lay his hands on" some of those loose-lipped staffers or speak to them in tongues or something. Maybe anoint 'em with some Crisco!

Arrow Historical first...

“We don’t do politics in the Department of Homeland Security,” Ridge said. (8/3/04)

That statement was not related to my previous post. It was in response to questions from reporters about the fact that the threat level orange alert announced Sunday was in response to information gathering done by Al-Qaida operatives in 2000 and 2001 prior to 9/11.

I just thought it was newsworthy that "we don't do politics" in Washington, D.C. anymore. Even the most independent appointed official in modern history, J. Edgar Hoover, did politics, only he was the one pulling the strings.

Check this out: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl.../fiorefear.DTL

We don't do politics in the Department of Homeland Security (Cont'd):

Pakistan: U.S. blew undercover operation
Al-Qaida suspect was secretly cooperating with counterrorist sting

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - The al-Qaida suspect named by U.S. officials as the source of information that led to this week’s terrorist alerts was working undercover, Pakistani intelligence sources said Friday, putting an end to the sting operation and forcing Pakistan to hide the man in a secret location.

We don't do politics in what, where? Somehow this doesn't surprize me at all,George. Good undercover operation shot to hell...
Why do they have to print everything they learn and talk about it on all the TV stations?

Because they're trailing in the polls and they have only one issue they think they can run on.
