Music and your reef!

I came across a newspaper article the other day discussing the ways music helps things. One example would be two ladies who grew roses using the exact same methods and materials, lighting was the same everything only one lady played music to her roses. Her roses ended up having brighter colors, bigger buds, stronger smell, thicker stems than the other lady. Also how pregnant women who play music to their babies while still in the womb has shown to produce more intelligent and artistic children. I am curious to know if anyone has ever experimented with a reef in the same manner. If so what did you notice over time? What music was played? Duration?

Well, I haven't heard of it being done, but ... I will happily begin testing... of course, my musical taste tends to be limited to the rock and roll sort... new and old ... and most of my tanks once set up are going to be quartered in the room where our stereo speakers are at (adjacent to the "Music" room, which houses our 1400+ CD, 500 Vinyl album collection) ..... I was actually wondering if the speaker that is directly above my 50 could possibly end up being detrimental, since when it's turned up LOUD... the water actually vibrates a bit... but I have no intention of moving the tank, nor of playing my music more quietly, sooooo..... I guess I will find out in the long run... the tank is in the process of cycling right now, so it will be awhile before I will know... but ... it will be fun to note when/if there is a difference. .. Music IS the language of the world ya'know!

I feel the same way. I should note however that the music played to the roses was classical. If corals dont love Stairway to Heaven cranked up then I don't know what to think.

LOL! I garden too, so I also have roses, and they are definitely the "nose-in-the-air" type of flowers, so I imagine only classical would do... and classical has its place... but .... Rock is in the soul... My bet is that corals will love it.. they already like to dance
