I sure hope it doesn't either, I could only imagine how hard it will be for you to sleep tonight knowing that it is coming. Good Luck and Be Safe!

Looks like it is about to exit Florida on the east coast and enter the Atlantic: http://www.intellicast.com/Local/USN...=none&pid=none

BTW, Rocky's phone is still out.

The only thing we could hope for is that it makes a turn east and doesn't hit S.C. or N.C., even though that is against what they are predicting.

I will be praying for everyone that had to go through. From the looks of the pictures on the news it was terrible. I am really glad that it did not come through New Orleans though. A hurricane that strong would have wiped us out. I relly hate to see anyone go through this.

Seven years before you were born we had a category 4 hurricane, Betsy, Sept. 9, 1965: http://www.usatoday.com/weather/reso...ne-betsy_x.htm

I remember it well. Very well!

yeah I have heard the horror strories of Betsy and Camille, my family is from Cameron Parish and my grandmother was there for Camille. I just hope that Floridians were ready, even though the news was off on the landfall. I have never talked to Scubadude but I really hope he is ok.

Just an update, the hurricane passed 150 miles to the east of me. I got no wind, a tad bit of rain and that's it. Most of the day was nice and cool with patches of sun. We were prepared just in case however I'm almost disappointed that we didnt get atleast a little bit of a storm, always sleep better during times like that.

Good news & bad news. i received word that rocky still
has a home but his GH is down. rocky wasn't there, but
a generator was running so i'm taking that as a sign he
& tracy made it thru.

any local boys want to join me in a rebuilding 'party' for him?

Just talked to Rocky, he and his family are OK. Their home is still standing although a bit battered. The greenhouse is totaled, and it took out the frag tanks when it went down. It looks like a war zone there and Rocky promises pics once things get back to normal.

He also wants to thank everyone for their concern and kind thoughts.

YES!! i just got a call from Rocky!! my boy & his family came thru
it all in one piece. his place got beat up but is still standing, his daughters
place in punta gorda is gone. the greenhouse is devastated. he's
sent his whole family up to maryland to stay with the inlaws so he
can concentrate on picking up the pieces. he wants everyone to know
that he's in good spirits despite it all (that's Rocky!!) & that he'll be
back to post when he can.

edit: ya beat me to it Agu , i want to thank you too for keeping
me updated as much as possible on it all. thanks bud, i owe you.

WOW, You guys are AWESOME!

I will try and concentrate on the meat and potatoes here....time is limited cuz of electricity where im at. Just wanted to put in a note to all of you ppl that have reached your heart out to me. I am totally greatfull as I feel like alot of you are my family as well! Im ok and my family is ok (thank the lord!) The damage in my area (Arcadia, Flor.) and my daughters area (Punta Gorda, Flor.) was the worst. Winds from what I have heard reached in excess of 185mph in certain areas and broke the wind gauges so could have been faster. Ninong Im not sure which number you have but I disconnected one and the other number isnt working yet. Since I do live on the outskirts of Arcadia (not in the city) Im sure I will be one of the last ppl that gets electricity the good thing is im on well water and I was one of the first ppl that was able to get water back up and running. Please realize that I know about most everyone that has tried to reach me via my Cell phone which is working but charging the battery on it is really not a high priority...electricity is very valuable. I have TONS of pictures for you guys and will try and post them but right now my computer is powered by a generator and I will post this first then try and post some pics. AGAIN thank you everyone for your prayers and concern, it is ppl like you guys that help me get through this.

Dick - I got your msg's....thanx bro Im ok
Matt - Your all aces man!
Rick - Not only have you literally saved my life once but you have a special place in my heart right now and you and your wifes concern mean the world to me!
Agu - Thank you VERY much for the supplies you dropped off @ my house, you REALLY are something else!
