Hurricane IVAN

Hey Ninong, looks like it is your turn to "batten down the hatches" and GET OUT OF TOWN! I sincerely hope you and your family make it thru unscathed! I am sure if something goes awry in your tank while you are gone, we will all send replacement frags for you!!!

Best of luck and take care!

We dodged the bullet this time!

I'm on the northwest shore of Lake Ponchartrain and all we are getting right now is tropical storm force winds and some rain. Practically nothing at all. Right now I'm hoping that we don't even lose our power so that we don't have to deal with the generator. (P.S. -- They kept telling us we were going to get tropical storm force winds but to tell you the truth, I don't think our winds have gotten over 35 mph yet. And that's as of 12:15 a.m. Thursday.)

New Orleans dodged the bullet, too. All of the heavy damage will be between Biloxi, MS and Pensacola, FL.

Here is the live satellite IR loop: http://www.intellicast.com/Local/USN...=none&pid=none

Good luck to everyone in harm's way!

Ninong

We sure did get lucky with this one, I live in the gonzales area we didnt really get anything at all. I heard one of the chief forcasters from the hurricane center say last night that he is thinking it will land west of where Ivan landed, even though everyone else is predicting it will go up the east coast.

YAY!!!

I am happy for all of our "extended family" that did not sustain a direct hit!

Well, it looks like even after the weather forecasters and even ourselves think that the storms are past, they come back again!
http://www.cnn.com/2004/WEATHER/09/2....ap/index.html

Jeanne made a big loop too and is again a threat to hit the US.

A lot of us here in the Daytona area are trying to figure out what we did to piss mother nature off. Thankfully Ivan did miss us, although I felt bad for our neighbors in the panhandle, but Jeanne is not looking good right now. Since I live so close to work I was elected rep for my department. Looks like yet another weekend spent sleeping in the EOC again.

Unhappy

This is getting a bit tiresome...
All the tree debris already stacked on the roadsides, 10's of thousands of tons of it which the county is struggling to recover is going to be "redeployed" by the storm.

Great.

At least I have a generator this time.

I can't believe what is being experienced with these storms. I mean Ivan has been gone for a week now and suddenly, a small portion of it reappears? Jeanne was a threat, then wasn't a threat, then kills over 1000 people in Haiti, makes a U turn and is now heading for the US? This is unreal!

I have a theory..........some terrorist organization has come up with a hurricane machine and since florida is a "fun" state for us they are unleashing hell on it. In all seriousness guys I know it sucks especially you home owners. Since this hasn't happened in a very long time down there maybe you guys will get some very mild seasons for 50 or so years. We all know you deserve it.
