Hurricane JEANNE

Ok i know you guys are probably getting sick of the hurricane threads, but Im really concerned for Rick aka Ricksreefs as he is facing the bullseye of the center of the hurricane right now actually. Rick if your out there let us know you are ok ASAP. Maybe a roll call for everyone is in order right now...The wind is kicking up right now where I live too.

Rocky,

Looks like the eye is directly north of you right now. Are you getting much wind? NOAA's NHC is now reporting the max. sustained winds around the eye wall as 85 mph so it looks like it has weakened considerably since it made landfall last night.

Now it looks like the damn thing is going to cross into the Gulf of Mexico just north of Tampa Bay. I hope the eye doesn't get too far out into the Gulf or it could strengthen again.

Maximum sustained winds at 11 a.m. (EDT) were down to 75 mph. Looks like it passed over saltjunkie's house? Right now it is just east of Tampa Bay.

CNN was reporting last night that this is the first time Florida has ever been hit by four hurricanes since they strated collecting data on them. The only other state to tie with Florida is Texas when it got hit four times in 1886!!
So far this hurricane has proven to be rather boring which is a good thing. I am 30 miles southwest of Daytona Beach and the max guests we have recorded here at city hall is 54mph.
For those out on the east cost as well as the folks down in the Staurt area I really feel sorry for them, this is just adding insult to injury.

Me and my wife didnt go to bed till like 3 am and there where actually times I woke up because of the feel of the bed moving/shaking. I do have to say that even though I played it cool in front of my wife that last nite was probably the most anxiety I have ever had in a long time. but we are all safe and nothing majorly damaged....lots of water in my front yard now. We actually never lost power for more than 2 secs either (thank god). Geez im getting to be a pro at this stuff.

Saltjunkie....you ok bro? Let me know if you need a generator bro...I got 2 of them that need minor repair that you are welcome to use.

yes, the major parts and the eye went directly over me!!!!
we lost power at 6 am.... was out for about 12 hpurs... our neighbor had a generator and he let me run a cord to my tank pump and fridge....

power finally came back on.. but the humiditygot to a few of my parts and gave me a good shock.... so my fan and refuge light are still drying out.. we lost alot of roof.. and 2 large sections of our privacy gate out back.. tree out front didnt go, but lost so many branches, so it is prolly gone... but my family and i came through this one again...
i have been through all 4 hurricanes now!

ivan did a loop also and came back through...
luckily we live in a newer neighbor hood and area.. most of all the utilities are underground.. and we are only a mile from a main power transfer station...
plus i take care of my mother.. our phone lines are set up as lifeline phones... and the electric companies have us on priority for person neeeding oxygen in the house..

yeah we made it.. again... the devestation around here is crazy, for us to be as LUCKY as we have been in this storm... houses around us have lost roofs, windows trees... etc...
we had branches fall .. 2 sections of out fence.. and some shingles gone..
across the street.. the whole privacy fence from a new subdivision is completely mangled... houses torn apart.. trees down.. etc.. its crazy.....

Glad to hear you both made it through ok! I used to live in Ft Pierce, and I understand that it took a pretty big hit too... I haven't been able to get through to my cousin, she still lives there... I am sure they are okay, but I would love to talk to her....
