My uncle is working on a geographic specific freshwater system right now. He has all kinds of questions from whether he can use water filter and pumps from lowes that are used in a house to what species of plants does he need. I have no clue about any of this and had no success with freshwater so I don't know how to help him out. Can anyone point me to a good discussion board for freshwater tanks.......more specifically ones that are designed for specific setups. He wants plants, substrate....the works and currently keeps oscars but hasn't decided what sort of tankor fish he wants. I've seen a few magazines with beautiful freshwater setups but can't seem to find many links that satisfy my visual tastes.

Examples would be North American Riverbed, Rainforest River, Cypress Swamp etc.
