Rep Of Ireland

Well as you can see I live on the emerald Isle. and thats where Marines just about end. The hobby over here is virtualy nil. with one stockists living in Belfast. about 12 hour round trip, and not much selection.
Having lived in the U.K for 60 years I now appreciate what I cant get. or took for granted.
Just a few no no's
No tank drilling available
no choice of stock
not much in the way of accessories
everything has to be orderd from U.K
No shipping into republic
carriers virtualy nil

In fact its a D.I.Y nightmare.
If only always comes to mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still the satisfaction in the end is one of well I made it eventualy.
How lucky you people are.

Hi Rusty, welcome to Reefland!

Shouldn't it be easier for you living in a country that is a member of the E.U. to purchase E.U. (German!) products cheaper than we pay for them over here in the States? I know that hobbyists in Britain seem to pay a lot less for European products than we do over here.

Livestock availability is much better over here but a lot of the high end equipment is much cheaper in Europe, especially now that the dollar is trading 1.30 to the euro.

Common Market ????????????????

You must be kidding me. as I said we only have one Marine outlet here and you have to get what he's got.
The prices are simply astronomical. Most is imported from the U.K so up goes the price. Believe me the E.U is only for the politicians to make their fortune.
importing from other countries puts on an extra 40 euros ( £30 strling- 40 dollars).
no such thing as basic accessories. everything is shipped in from the U.K
Remember I live in the Republic entirely seperate from the north. which is run by England.

Rusty,

Check with Martyn, one of the members of this board who farms SPS frags in the U.K., to see what advice he can give you: 1st pics of He's in Cambridgeshire, which sounds like it's near London.

I know that we have at least 100 board members from the U.K. but I'm not sure how many members we have from Ireland. I know that one of the members on Reef Central moved from California to Galway, Ireland last year. His board name was Newkie and this is (was?) his website: http://www.livinglava.com/

Maybe Scott (Reefland) can tell you how to find all the Irish board members, if we have any. I'm sure we must have a few.

P.S. -- The U.S. dollar is no longer anywhere close to parity with the euro thanks to our Republican President and Republican controlled Congress that have been running up record budget deficits to finance tax cuts for the ultra rich and nation-building experiments abroad. Back on January 20, 2001, when the current president took office, the exchange rate was € = $0.94 and £ = $1.49 but today the rate is € = $1.30 and £ = $1.85. The dollar has fallen dramatically during the past four years and it will continue to fall as long as the same bozos are running things in Washington.
