What are your feelings about ABC Sports prostituting for ABC's adult soap during prime time? I'm talking about the Monday Night Football spot where Nicollette Sheridan of Desperate Housewives asks Terrell Owens to hang around with her instead of going out onto the field to play football. At first he's reluctant but then she drops her towel (which was all she was wearing) and he grins and agrees that they will just have to start without him, at which point she does a Lambeau leap (buck naked) into his arms. No, you didn't actually see any boobs this time, unless you count the ones wearing Dallas Cowboys' uniforms.

If nudity and adult language are supposed to be restricted to after 10 p.m. on network television, then why would the FCC tolerate the Disney Company promoting sexual promiscuity (one of their "values") on their Monday Night Football program at 6 p.m. west coast time, 9 p.m. east coast time? I'm sure the FCC will hit them with a fine but I'm sure they're all laughing all the way to the bank. Isn't it ironic that ABC has a 5-second delay on Monday Night Football so that they can zap any inappropriate wardrobe malfunctions that weren't planned by themselves?

Why should parents have to explain situations like this to their young children? What do you say? No, Billy, girls will not take off their clothes and jump into your arms just because you're wearing a football uniform. No, Paris Hilton doesn't count.

George, I have no words to express my disappointment. I always watched Monday night games with my son when it was all just about the game,Thank God.

Nowadays it's all about sex and money on TV, even then, it took me by surprize when I saw that "piece".

At first I was surprised that they would do something like that after all the fuss when Janet Jackson had that wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl. CBS got hit with a $550,000 fine even though they protested that they didn't know anything about it.

In this case, ABC (Disney) not only knew about it, they were responsible for it. How much you want to bet they had their "apology" already written up before the spot even aired? I'm sure they expect to be fined, too, but what do they care.

Another thing I was wondering about was why they would want to alienate the people (51% of the country) that just reelected George W. Bush to a second term but then I noticed that Nicollette was wearing a crucifix around her neck, so I guess that makes her a good Christian? Either that or it was intended to ward off vampires and/or FCC fines.

I don't think the spot was obscene, it was just irresponsible of Disney to try to force their sexually promiscuous life style on children who might have been watching. Obscene was when they forced us to listen to Dennis Miller's blatherings.

I'm sure none of the networks want to part with 500K's but I am also sure that it is just a packet change for them. Ratings are everything, as you know.

I used to look foravrd to commercials during the super bowl becouse the companies that bought time for commercials paid lots of money for it and usually came out with really good ones(even beer commercials were in good fun, remember the lizards?). Not anymore.
You brought up a good point about ticking people off so fast after elections, I wonder if anything will come out of it.
The crucifix don't mean as much anymore either, it seems,at least in her case.

I'm sure Michael Powell will hit them with a fine. I just checked to make sure and his daddy is not on Disney's board of directors, so he doesn't have to go easy on them like he did the AOL - Time Warner merger when daddy's stock options took off thanks to the favorable handling by the FCC. Michael decided not to recuse himself from that little matter in spite of his father's direct connection and the obvious conflict of interest.

But times have changed. The President was reelected with a sweeping "mandate." Fully 51% of the people voted for him and now he's going to "spend that capital." We don't want to "misunderestimate" him again, do we? It's time to uphold good old Republican "morals" and "family values." That's what he ran on and that's what we should insist on from now on.

No more Bob Dole leering at scantily clad teenie bopper girls in erectile dysfunction commercials. That wouldn't fit in with the new and improved, Pat Robertson-Gary Bauer endorsed Republican "moral values." And just because the Disney Company refused to distribute Fahrenheit 9/11 doesn't give them a free pass to do whatever they please in the future.

Canada eh? I've thought about it too but I like my guns and have too much southern pride. A revolution ;; is on its way and if our government didn't like the late 60's and early 70's they better hold on for the next one. It's coming. Might be a little while but people all over the nation are starting to feel equal and if there is another uprising of the people it won't be so pretty.

As for the commercial, the timing was wrong that is all. Everyone is so upset that their children might see it. I don't care what devices you have on your tv and computers to keep your kids from seeing things they shouldn't they are still going to see them. All of us were kids and you remember how sneaky and curious you were. Lets face it kids are smarter than adults in some ways. They are going to see what they want to see.

While I didn't see the ad spot on TV, I've read about it a lot. If anyone of us are upset about it, then best way to show that is to boycott. Find out which advertisers are sponsoring MNF & Desperate Housewives and send them a note. Tell them you are disappointed and will not buy their products as long as they sponsor this kind of stuff. Contact Disney and tell them the same thing.

The only way you're going to get a point across is to hit these people in their pocketbooks.

If you really want to get their attention, just tell them you are a shareholder and you are going to vote NO on the re-election of all of the current board members. Furthermore, you are a member of an extremely large state employees pension fund (like CalPERS for instance) and you are going to try to get your pension fund to vote NO, too. And you are going to attend the next annual meeting in person and raise some embarrassing questions.

How effective, you ask? Just ask Michael Eisner, the Chairman of Disney. After 43% of shareholders voted NO on his re-election in April, the board was forced to cut his jobs in two, leaving him with less power. He has now announced his retirement. I think it's sometime late next year.

Knowing people that handle this type of feedback that is sent to the Sponsor's of the shows, people that spend the time to write or type feedback voicing their dissappointment and stating they will not buy their products are wasting their time. This type of feedback is never sent to marketing departments for review. It's a waste of time. I'm not so sure about that. Recently SC Johnson pulled their advertising on the show "She's A Lady" without it being shown. I sent an email to them expressing my pleasure in them taking a stance on shows that are aimed at the lowest form of entertainment. I received a response the next day from them stating that they thought the show was distasteful and did not fit into the category of entertainment they preferred to sponsor.

And, yes, if I find something on TV that I find that I don't like, I make it a point to attempt to find out who sponsors are, contact them and do not buy their products(if I can help it). I do the same at restaurants. If I get what I consider less than acceptable service/food, I politely inform the management that I am displeased and will not be coming back. You'd be real surprised how quickly they want to straighten that out.

A few years back, I was in the grocery store in line. An older couple was a couple of people in front of me and getting their groceries checked out. The girl at register was being rude and just had an attitude. The man finally had enough and told her, "Stop. Stop ringing my groceries up and I need to see a manager."

Little Ms. Precious got an attitude even worse and called a manager. The manager came over and asked if he could help. The man said, "This young lady undoubtedly doesn't understand business. You need to explain to her the concepts of 'profit' and 'overhead'. My wife, myself, and the rest of these people in line are profit. Everything else in this store, including her, is overhead. The way to increase your profit is to control and reduce overhead."

At this point, he turned to his wife and said, "Come on." and started to walk away. She said, "But what about our groceries?" He said, "Those aren't our groceries. Those are the store's groceries." And out they walked. manager told the girl to take a break and they'f talk later. I never saw her in that store again.

No, I wouldn't be overly upset about it and no, I haven't seen the commercial. I don't even thinks it's been aired since that one time. I'm not telling you what you can and cannot watch. I'm not trying to force my views or feelings on you.

But I do have the right(as everyone else) to contact companies and tell them how I feel about their products, business practices or any ads. Whether they decide to take action is on them. All I do is tell company they won't get my business because of....whatever reason I want. They can continue to do whatever they want. But once enough people do the same thing, companies take notice and make a decision of what action to take. Why? Because of the bottom line(i.e. pocketbook).

It's very similar to everyone's feelings in the aquarium hobby about Wally World selling FW fish or Petco selling SW fish. Lots of people don't like any others are okay with it. But majority are against it. Me? I don't like it because the environment these fish are in is deplorable even if only there a few days. So what do I do? I let the companies know how I feel and take my money elsewhere.

Has this stopped either from their practices even though majority of people I know are against it? No. Why? The bottom line. They know there are enough uninformed people who will buy fish(especially in FW as most SW people do more research) so they can continue to make money.

And I do change channel any time I see a show I do not like.
