Hi Reefer,

We let post regarding specific nano aquarium questions live in the Reef Aquariums forum; we do not have enough nano enthusiasts on Reefland at this time for a dedicated nano forum.

nanonanu

I was 4-square against nano reefs for awhile(they seemed like cop-outs), but I have one on my desk at work that's less than a gallon now. I don't really visit any other forums than this one but I bet we have enough knowledge here to have some intelligent convos about nanos.

I would enjoy it but at the same time agree that there aren't enough enthusiasts here to keep it very active.

Nano

After getting hooked on marine aquariums, the boy and I moved to an apartment where no fish are allowed. After 6 months, we couldn't stand it. We decided to get an Eclipse 3, put some live rock in it, and a couple of hermits. I think we may add a shrimp soon, and maybe some polyps. So we're forced into nano... it's not just a cop out!

It's looking like the Eclipse 3 doesn't get much water movement but I'm afraid a powerhead would blow the sand around. Any good input would be appreciated, we're nano-newbies and starting out VERY carefully. Thanks-

I think what you can do is get small Maxi-jet powerhead and attach long enough rigid tubing to the output of it. Drill some small holes in the tubing and voila, you got yourself a spray bar. It is not very hard to do and will make for very good surface agitation/gas exchange and add to overall water movement.
