I'm Out
Today was my last day as a member of the armed services. I can finally get my life back.

Congratulations! Now all you have to worry about is being called back from the Individual Ready Reserve. It could happen.

Wow I didn't know anyone posted a reply to this thread. Thanks a lot guys.
Scott, it was supposed to be a 120 now but I got it sold out from underneath me....argh George, They can't call me back. I tore my knees up pretty bad in training here at Ft. Bragg and they wanted to operate. Decided not to due to the fact that even with an operation people with my problem still tend to decline over time. Bilateral Chondromalacia Patella with a partial tear in my right ACL, I don't know if I spelled it correct but you get the idea. I'm getting a very generous settlement from the army and am still awaiting my disability percentage from the VA. I'm out and will never be called back. It's nice though because even with 100% disability which I won't get anywhere near I could still hold a civilian job if I wanted to. Just can't run or jump out of c130's any longer.

I'll jump out of anything as long as I don't have the standard dash 1 bravo or t10D strapped to me.....the goal of these chutes is to get you to the ground as fast as possible. I've had some bad jumps and don't wanna touch another of these parachutes ever again.

I had a buddy in airborne, he said the chute takes 4 seconds to open, and in Panama they dropped from 6 second altitude.... That is CLOSE!!! YIKES!

We normally jump at around 1300 feet but certain missions require different altitudes. I think the lowest I've jumped was 500 feet. At the 3 count the chute opens and you have just enough time to perform a plf.

plf is proper landing fall, feed and knees together you turn in a way so that you don't just crunch down, basically your feet hit and fly up, then your thighs hit, then your side and you roll your body in a way to absorb the shock....it doesn't always work.
I only did 3 years before tearing my knees up but I am giving serious thought to another govt job....just have no idea what. With the training I received and my clearance my opportunities are endless but I don't know..
