Talking Works of Art?

This story is hilarious. If you are a very uptight hawk, it may not be as amusing, but if you are even slightly anti-war in general, it's a blast!

Please read the news article first and then the really good part is below but don't go there until after you have read about the guy.

After reading the above, I managed to find Banksy's personal website. There, under "Current Exhibitions," you will find photos of his "works of art" that hung for at least three days in four different major New York museums. Don't miss his Paranoid Pictures movie of him actually doing it. He's dressed as Inspector Clouseau!

P.S. -- Don't miss the scientific name he assigned to the dead beetle with glued on sidewinder missiles: Withus oragainstus. That one was displayed at the Museum of Natural History in New York for more than three days.

Nice. It reminds me of a similarly hilarious project I saw online, in which the artist smuggled fake merchandise into Walmart to see what would happen to it. Things like Mussolini action figures. The store actually sold a few items if I recall. Let me try to find the link.

Here it is:

Penguin,

I liked the Storm Motor Oil. That was pretty good. They should have added, "Endorsed by G. Gordon Liddy and Oliver North."

It's amazing that the Wal-Mart management didn't notice some of those items for a very long time.

Just as amazing is the fact that none of Bansky's "works of art" were noticed until three days later by any of those four major New York museums. He even has photos on his website of museum visitors viewing his pieces. I guess they all accepted them as part of the museum's exhibit. Some are rather Andy Warhol-ish but the Withus oragainstus beetle was just too much. How that made it past the first couple of hours on display is beyond me.
