Arrow Are you tired of government-endorsed sin?

Then move to South Carolina.

ChristianExodus.org offers the opportunity to try a strategy not yet employed by Bible-believing Christians. Rather than spend resources in continued efforts to redirect the entire nation, we will redeem States one at a time. Millions of Christian conservatives are geographically spread out and diluted at the national level. Therefore, we must concentrate our numbers in a geographical region with a sovereign government we can influence through the electoral process.

ChristianExodus.org is orchestrating the move of thousands of Christians to reacquire our Constitutional rights by electing State and local officials who will interpose on behalf of the people and refuse to enforce illegal federal acts. Click on our Plan of Action page to find out how we can experience God-honoring governance once again.

www.christianexodus.org

P.S. -- Isn't that a great idea! Let's get all of them in one place so the rest of us can live in peace. I think they should try to take over Alaska first because it has a much smaller population than South Carolina and a lot more open space. Don't forget your flag. Or your guns!

P.P.S. -- If you were wondering what illegal federal acts they propose to ignore, their website lists the following, among others, as being unlawful for the federal government to be involved in in any way: Taxation, gun regulation, religion, abortion, domestic behavior, education, welfare, healthcare and much more.

However, you may have to wait a few years before you can stop paying federal income tax because according to their website, they don't expect to achieve that goal until 2016:
  1. Institute constitutional reforms returning proper autonomy to the State by 2016 regardless of illegal edicts from Washington, D.C.

I wonder if they receive any of that federal faith-based initiative money? Bush has been doling out billions of dollars to various religious charities and they are specifically exempt from the usual non-discrimination in employment regulations that other organizations must abide by. In other words, they don't have to hire someone if doing so would offend their strongly held faith-based religious beliefs. And even if they do hire you, they can fire you for things like adultery that wouldn't get you fired at a secular organization. I had no idea that their strongly held faith-based religious beliefs could be the basis for refusing service. Most Christian charities that I know of will help anyone in need.
Greetings,

Noticed the reference to Bethany Christian Services. My wife served for years on one of their fund raising boards, and we have worked closely with one of their New England directors. We also receive their newsletter and were at one point considering adoption through them of a special needs child in China. A wonderful organization who, though some may not affirm their religous convictions, labor to provide a peaceful alternative to abortion for anyone, and assist other Christian couples through the adoption process. They have had a tremendous impact helping place children from orphanages overseas into loving homes, particularly children with needs that couldn't or wouldn't be met in their own countries. I applaud their work. I don't know if they receive any Federal funding, but I doubt it. Even so it would hardly amount to much, far less than what they probably have to return to each State in fees to maintain their licenses .

Hi Jason,

I believe the point of the article was not to question whether they are doing good work or not but only to suggest that they are biased against certain Christian sects. In the case in point, the Catholic couples in Mississippi were told that they were not eligible to participate in Bethany's adoption services even though they did "affirm their religious convictions" as stated on their website. So it is not simply a matter of telling them that you agree with their religious beliefs. If you are a Catholic, you are not eligible. Perhaps it would help clarify matters if they simply announced truthfully that they serve some Christian denominations but not all -- Catholics need not apply.

This is why I have a problem with government money, federal or state, going to support so-called "faith-based initiatives." You are probably correct that Bethany receives very little government support but they do receive money from the sale of so-called "pro-life" license plates in the state of Mississippi. Most Catholics are very pro-life. I guess that's why those couples in Mississippi were disappointed to learn that they are not acceptable Christians to the folks at Bethany.

I'm not trying to pick on Bethany. I have a problem with the policies of virtually all religious sects. I thought it was incredibly cruel of Pope Pius XII to refuse to allow French Jewish orphans who had been saved by the Church in Paris to return to their Jewish families after the war unless the families signed a written declaration that they would be raised as Catholics. The Church converted many of the younger children from Judaism to Catholicism during the time they were in custody. In fact, they had to claim that they were Catholics to save their lives. Then, after the war, when the extended families tried to reclaim their young relatives, they were hit with this demand that they be raised as Catholics. Many children were not reunited with their families. All of this is in Pope John XXIII's memoirs; he was papal nuncio to Paris during 1944 and 1945. Pius XII sent him there as a slap at the Vichy French government because he was considered a lightweight. He turned out to be a much better pope than Pius XII, but I digress.

Arrow The wackos are still at it:

Here it is the 21st. century and we still have teachers telling students in public schools in Texas that the earth stood still in it's orbit twice (in support of the literal truth of the biblical text that the sun stood still in Joshua and II Kings) and that NASA backs them up on that.

They also offer "scientific" proof of Noah's flood and the "creation science" version of the origin of life.

And this is in a public school, not a private, religious school. It's all part of their effort to teach the Bible as the foundation of society in public schools. For example, they claim the Constitution was based on the Bible! Obviously they are unfamiliar with at least one of those works.

Arrow Let us pray:

Pat Robertson's new prayer points:

Pray that the person God desires would be appointed to the Supreme Court. (That's right, God has a personal interest in the people the President appoints and I'm sure he will tell the Chosen One who is acceptable to Him.)

Pray that additional vacancies occur within the Supreme Court. (They don't have to actually die, just get too sick to work. I'm sure God can handle it.)

Pray that those who oppose biblical truth would retire from the Supreme Court and be replaced by those who honor God's law. (And while you're at it, ask God to smite the evil-doers who teach evolution.)

Pray that any plan of the enemy for the Senate confirmation hearing would be thwarted. Take authority over the schemes of Satan concerning the Supreme Court. (That's right, Harry Reed is the Antichrist. Along with Methodists, Episcopalians and Presbyterians. Since Reed is a Mormon, I guess we can add them to the list.)

Pray that Roe v. Wade would be overturned. (And while you're at it, ask God to do something about the "black-robed tyrants" on the "last bastion of liberal power" that is the present Supreme Court. How did a court that is made up of seven Republican appointees and only two Democratic appointees get to be so liberal? Ask God to do better this time.) P.S. -- Pat, Jesus was a liberal.

Schrocat,

That's not what they had in mind when they said they wanted prayer and bible study returned to public schools. :slap:

You keep forgetting that this is a Christian country and the wingnuts are not interested in diversity of any kind, anywhere. That's why James Dobson said that the new Supreme Court nominee should be a good Christian. Usually they include the Jews because of end of times prophesy stuff but they obviously don't want another one on the Supreme Court.

I don't think the Court really needed another Catholic, since Scalia is more than enough all by himself, and they don't need another gay guy, but how about a nice Hispanic lesbian? To round out things? Liven up the party, so to speak? Add a little spice to the pot-luck lunches.

Arrow Nazi medical experiments on "detainees" benefited mankind:

Prominent right-wing religious whacko, James Dobson, compares embryonic stem cell research to the experiments the Nazis did in the concentration camps except that he claims that the Nazi experiments probably "benefited mankind."

Anti-semitism runs deep, doesn't it? After a statement like that, who will he get to be the token Jew at the upcoming confab? The one that Dr. Frist is not invited to. They managed to find some rabbi last time who was willing to appear but it may be a little more difficult this time around.

Arrow "Thank God for Improvised Explosive Devices Killing Americans in Strange Lands."

Topeka, Kansas Baptist Minister Fred Phelps thinks it wonderful that God is killing so many of our troops in Iraq. In fact, he intends to make an uninvited guest appearance at the funeral of an Army sergeant in Alabama so that he can tell the dead man's family and friends how happy he is that God has killed him. Praise Jesus!

Support the Troops, Hate America

Hey look what I found on Phelp's site!!

No "America hating liberal site" can hold a candle to...

http://www.godhatesamerica.com/

Yes boys and girls, you are reading that correctly.

I'm sure we'll be hearing outrage from the morally inflammed and swollen Right any second now.

P.S...after reading a few articles, I can honestly say these people need to be dropped off in Mexico and stripped of their citizenship.

WBC (Westboro Baptist Church) rejoices every time the Lord God in His vengeance kills or maims an American soldier with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). "The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked" (Ps. 58:10).

They rejoiced when the tsunami in Indonesia killed 2,000 vacationing Swedes because Sweden is a liberal country that supports gay rights.

I wonder if Fred Phelps has ever been invited to appear with Pat Robertson on the 700 Club? He'd be right at home. Remember the day after 9/11 when Jerry Falwell (another Baptist minister) blamed the 9/11 attacks on feminists, abortionists and gay rights advocates and Pat Robertson agreed with him? They said it was God's vengeance and that America deserved it. We were asking for it and God gave it to us. Then, when all hell broke loose, Pat Robertson claimed that he didn't agree with Falwell even though it's on tape. He has no trouble at all lying. It just comes naturally.

P.S. -- If I have time, I'll try to find the item where Pat asked God to send a hurricane to wipe out Orlando because he was mad at Disney. That was several years ago. Pat is very influential with God. He told George W. Bush that he talked to God and God told him that Bush's Social Security private accounts would be approved. That's on his website, I think. There's so much crap on there it's hard to not come across something hilarious. Sometimes I even watch the 700 Club just for kicks. I can't believe there are people out there who take these people seriously. Whatever happened to Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker? That was a funny pair!

Before I get to the part about Pat asking God to send a hurricane to wipe out Disney World, let's review some of the tsunami stuff:

Jerry Falwell and his Liberty University buddies are using this tsunami as a great way to exploit the native peoples of India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Indonesia. Along with the 80 tons of food they will be distributing to the tsunami victims they “will be presenting the Gospel to tens of thousands of persons through distribution of Gospel tracts written in the native languages of the area.” (1/12/05 Falwell.com Newsletter)

I commend Jerry for doing his part to help out, but how would he feel if after 9/11, Muslim aid workers gave out verses from Koran in English. It’s disrespectful and it’s a waste of money.

Tom DeLay blamed the tsunami on God:

“A reading of the Gospel, in Matthew 7:21 through 27.

Not every one who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven; but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.

Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’

Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you: depart from me, you evil doers.’

Everyone who listens to these words of mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man, who built his house on a rock:

The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew, and buffeted the house, but it did not collapse; it has been set solidly on rock.

And everyone who listens to these words of mine, but does not act on them, will be like a fool who built his house on sand:

The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew, and buffeted the house, and it collapsed and was completely ruined.

-Tom Delay, January 4th Prayer Breakfast (P.S. -- Tom has been praying a lot lately.)

Mike Savage, conservative racist, says God caused the tsunami to hit Muslim countries to get even for 9/11:

“You could argue, maybe this is God’s hand, because some of their brethren struck Christian America. Maybe God speaks the truth but waits. Seeks the truth and waits. I don’t know. You could argue: God struck them.”

“You could take the argument that it’s God’s will, it’s too bad and let’s move on.”

-Mike Savage, Savage Nation, 12/31/04

Here's the statement from the Reverend Phelps of Westboro Baptist Church thanking God for the tsunami. I can't copy it here because of the language: http://rawstory.rawprint.com/1204/we...ement_1230.php

Arrow More on 9/11 being God's gift to America:

“FALWELL: … What we saw on Tuesday [9/11/2001], as terrible as it is, could be miniscule if, in fact, God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.

ROBERTSON: Well, Jerry, that’s my feeling. I think we’ve just seen the antechamber to terror, we haven’t begun to see what they can do to the major population.”

-700 Club, 9/13/01

Arrow More stuff God told Pat Robertson:

“Again, 2005 is going to be a year of extraordinary prosperity for this nation and for CBN [Christian Broadcasting Network]. And I think the American stock market is going to surge upward, if I heard from the Lord. Again, ladies and gentlemen, don’t go and buy stock on my recommendation, but that’s what I feel in my heart. The Lord was saying it’s going to be a super good year.” -- Pat Robertson

Did God say anything about oil stocks? That's the way to go, Pat. I hope God clued you in about that back when he told Bush to invade Iraq.

Arrow God told Pat he approves of Social Security private accounts:

“Well, the Lord has some very encouraging news for George Bush … What I heard is that Bush is now positioned to have victory after victory and that his second term is going to be one of triumph, which is pretty strong stuff. … He’ll have Social Security reform passed. He’ll have tax reform passed. He’ll have conservative judges on the courts. And that basically he is positioned for a series of dramatic victories which I hope will hearten him and his advisers. They don’t have to be timid in this matter because the wind is blowing at his back, and he can move forward boldly and get results.” -- Pat Robertson

Arrow Pat answers your questions:

“My 18-year-old son is hooked on computer games that have magic spells in them. I’m concerned, but what can I do?” -- Caller to the 700 Club.

Pat's answer:

“Once they are 18, it is tough. Nevertheless, as a mother, sit down with your son and say, ‘We are Christians and love Jesus. This kind of conduct is hurtful to you and damaging. There are demons.’ You need to explain to him the reality of demonic possession. You begin with one of those games and it draws you in.” -- Pat Robertson

There ya go. Sounds good to me, how 'bout you guys? They didn't have computer games when I was 18. They had just introduced television. I wonder if I Love Lucy had any subliminal magic spells?

Arrow Famous saying of one of Pat's close friends:

Operation Rescue

Randall Terry, the founder, is famous for his statement, “I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good … if a Christian voted for Clinton, he sinned against God. It’s that simple. Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a biblical duty, we are called by God to conquer this country.” An Operation Rescue member also murdered Dr. David Gunn, an abortion clinic doctor, in 1993. They work closely with Pat Robertson’s Christian Coalition.

You may remember Randall Terry from the Terri Schiavo coverage. He was the family spokesperson for the Schindlers. Oh, and Eric Rudolph, Randall Terry's close friend, was just tried recently for his murders. He proudly proclaimed his guilt and said he has no remorse. Randall Terry contributed to his defense fund. He probably used the money he saved by declaring bankruptcy so that he wouldn't have to pay court ordered restitution to all the women's health clinics he damaged.

Arrow Pat Robertson supports murderous dictators:

Especially when he has $8 million invested in a sweetheart deal with the murderous dictator's government: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/...in562915.shtml

Pat was outraged that we asked Charles Taylor to step down because he has $8 million invested in a gold mining venture with the Liberian government.
