This is the free weather forecast for my location: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ifps/MapClic...te=LA&site=LIX
It was updated just ten minutes before I pulled it. It contains no ads. It's the same information the commercial services get for free and then use to develop their forecasts. This is the Weather Channel's weather forecast for my location: http://msnbc.com/news/wea_front.asp?...accid=USLA0379 It was last updated more than 2-1/2 hours ago. The government forecast is based on readings from the Hammond airport, 15 miles from my house. The Weather Channel forecast sometimes comes from New Orleans (55 miles away) and sometimes it's based on Slidell's readings (70 miles away); occasionally it's based on Hammond's readings.

Unrelated but related...
Here is a picture of the "Calm After The Storm" as tornado producing storms exit the Louisville, KY area. |

Wow.
Amazing. I just went through back to back to back to back Hurricanes down here and this twit has the nerve to cut off the real information. ![]() Now they're actually trying to kill people. ![]()

I just clicked on both of the links in my second post above and the results are the same as before: The free weather forecast from NOAA gives me readings that were taken just 3 minutes ago while the Weather Channel forecast -- sponsored by Qwest -- gives me readings that are more than 2-1/2 hours old.
Senator Ricky (who is thankfully 14 points behind Casey in the most recent polls) wants to ban the free forecast that is up-to-the-minute in favor of the pay-per-view forecast that tells me what the weather was like hours ago. P.S. -- I guess since they're running into resistance in their plan to phase out Social Security, they figured they would phase out something else instead.
