What has gotten into these people!?! Does David Dreier, Chairman of the House Rules Committee, think that he can ingratiate himself with the wingnuts with antics like this? Does he think that they will overlook the fact that his boyfriend is his chief of staff at $156,600/year? (That's the highest you can legally pay a chief of staff and only for chiefs of staff to committee chairpersons.)

When they get through with all of Tom DeLay's trips, maybe they should look into the dozens of paid vacations that Dreier and his longtime partner have taken together to exotic resorts over the past several years. Obviously Davey gets along great with the Speaker, who reappointed him as Rules Committee chair inspite of their own rules to the contrary. He didn't get along nearly as well with Barbara Bush when he was dating her daughter. She was very disappointed that he "never laid a hand on her." But that was a long time ago. He even dated Bo Derek!!!

If all the Republican closet cases in the House and Senate who hired their boyfriends were outed, maybe they would do a Jim McGreevy and retire? At least Dreier didn't fool some poor woman into marrying him just to further his career like McGreevy did and like most of the other Republican gay congressmen did.

I think it is just more proof that the National Republican Party doesn't believe anything they say and are just stringing along all of the rednecks that make up their right-wing religious base.

What would Jerry Falwell think if he knew the Chairman of the House Rules Committee is a gay man?

What would James Dobson think if he knew the Chairman of the Republican National Committee is a gay man? Would he accuse Bush of being two-faced in appointing a gay man to such a high post in the party while pretending to go along with the wingnut agenda? I think he would consider it absolutely Schrocking!

P.S. -- I think Rep. Ed Schrock resigned, right? At first the wingnuts insisted that the tapes were phony but voice analysis proved they were authentic. He resigned after his wife recognized his voice on those tapes soliciting gay one-night stands.
