Time to revive our popular Moron-of-the-Month Award. This month's laureate is not in the reefkeeping hobby, at least not as far as I know, but he is highly qualified for the award nonetheless.
Following is a copy of my email this morning congratulating our newest award winner, Alfred Parham, Ass. Principal, Spencer High School, Columbus, GA. "Congratulations, Alfred! You are now the laughing stock of the entire country. Enjoy your fifteen minutes of fame, you moron!" What's that? You wanted to know how Alfred beat out all the other worthy nominees to merit this coveted award? I'm sure that after reading the following report of Alfred's extraordinary example of what can be accomplished if one is a truly devoted moron you will agree with me that he is a worthy recipient. Fri May 6,12:23 PM ET A high school student was suspended for 10 days for refusing to end a mobile phone call with his mother, a soldier serving in Iraq, school officials said. The 10-day suspension was issued because Kevin Francois was "defiant and disorderly" and was imposed in lieu of an arrest, Spencer High School assistant principal Alfred Parham said. The confrontation Wednesday began after the 17-year-old junior got a call at lunchtime from his mother, Sgt. 1st Class Monique Bates, who left in January for a one-year tour with the 203rd Forward Support Battalion. Mobile phones are allowed on campus but may not be used during school hours. When a teacher told him to hang up, he refused. He said he told the teacher, "This is my mom in Iraq. I'm not about to hang up on my mom." Parham said the teen's suspension was based on his reaction to the teacher's request. He said the teen used profanity when taken to the office. "Kevin got defiant and disorderly," Parham said. "When a kid becomes out of control like that they can either be arrested or suspended for 10 days. Now being that his mother is in Iraq, we're not trying to cause her any undue hardship; he was suspended for 10 days." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050506/...on_1&printer=1 If any of you wish to send Alfred a congratulatory email, you may contact him through the school's handy website: http://www.mcsdga.net/schools/high/spencer.html P.S. -- Looks like a lot of other folks beat me to the punch. I just received the following notification: Delivery unsuccessful: Mailbox has exceeded the limit ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <aparham@mcsdga.net> The size of this mailbox has exceeded the mailbox limit P.P.S. -- OK, so now I am trying to send my congratulations to the school's principal: "Congratulations on your support of our troops in Iraq! It is not often that we see such outstanding examples of what can be accomplished by truly devoted morons like yourself and your staff. "Keep up the good work. Such stunning examples of incompetence should not go unnoticed."

Lets see if we can reach the Superintendent of Schools:
OK, I'm sure my email to the school's principal will meet the same fate as my email to the ass. principal, so I shot one off to the Superintendent of Schools:
Subject: Supporting our troops in Iraq! Dear Dr. Phillips: Congratulations on the performance of the staff at Spencer High School in providing us with such an outstanding example of what can be accomplished by truly devoted morons. Such an extraordinary accomplishment should not go unnoticed. I'm sure you are proud of all of the schools in your district but this school deserves to be singled out for its incredible achievements that I'm sure will bring national recognition to your program. Keep up the good work!

Wow what a story... If my Mom was in Iraq and I didn't get to talk to her often I am sure I would have used more then profanity to stay on the phone...
