Torture's Bad...mmm-kay

Quote:
"I voted for the Bill...Before I voted against it."
Quote:
While saying ''we do not torture,'' Bush told a news conference in Panama: ''Our country is at war, and our government has the obligation to protect the American people.
''There's an enemy that lurks and plots and plans and wants to hurt America again, and so you bet, we'll aggressively pursue them, but we will do so under the law,'' the president said.
Bush has threatened to veto a measure sponsored by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., that would prohibit cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment of detainees. The measure, which was attached to a defense spending bill, passed the Senate 90-9.
or...

"I was against torture before I voted for it."

Dang flip flopper!

Can any whiskey soaked moralist out there with a fresh WH talking points memo hot off the fax machine back me up?

Quote:
"For the record, I'm against torture.
I'm also against outlawing it. These are not mutually exclusive concepts. It may take a nimble mind to manage both ideas, but it's worth the effort."

...a tip of the highball glass to Mr Gibson!

It depends on what your definition of 'is' is.

"We do not torture." -- George W. Bush

What does he mean by 'we' and what does he mean by 'torture?'

And why hasn't he explained this new policy to his self-appointed Vice President?

Those 2 clowns (Gibson and former Inside Edition anchor Bill O'Really?) have done more to dampen the Christmas spirit than any two people on the face of the earth.

Arrow Fox News: Fair & Balanced Racists!

FOX Carolina: Bringing you all the white supremacy you can handle

Stormfront:

"Bob Whitaker and I were interviewed in the Fox video clip that you can view at the link below. We got a chance to point out to the viewers that Stormfront has 65,000 Members, 2,000,000 posts, and is dedicated only to the survival of the White race. Bob was interviewed on camera in Columbia, S.C. and I was interviewed by phone in Florida. I like the story that was done, what do you think after viewing it?"

(FOX pulled the video off the page.)

Read the rest of the thread if you want to get sick: "It's a web site with everything from dating advice and homemaking threads, to discussion boards that focus on news that white activists want to know.

Stormfront.org is a web site founded on the belief that the white race is a dying race...read on"

From Blair Watch: "Thanks to all for the positive assessments of this Stormfront.org interview with Fox TV. The Fox TV Carolina staff was very professional and made it easy for Bob and me. One detail that I forgot (until just yesterday) was to unmoderate our new Stormfront Member, FOXSC, so that Fox could post more easily on Stormfront. We've also got Fox5News and Fox-News as Stormfront Members."

Tami Birckner, the Fox Carolina reporter who ran the one-sided fluff piece on StormFront.org, a popular hub for white supremacists and anti-Semites, was an active participant in the website’s chat forums.

Think Progress contacted Birckner this afternoon and she confirmed that she is “FOXSC” on StormFront’s forums.

When asked why she didn’t include some voices that were critical of StormFront, she replied she did the story exactly as she was told to and that officials at the network were very pleased with her coverage.

The reporter who did the piece was named South Carolina Broadcaster's Association 2005 reporter of the year. Mighty white of them.

Actually I saw it live when it happened. Olbermann is the only talking head on CNBC that I watch anymore. Tweety (Chris Matthews) has been driving me nuts lately and I just can't stand his nonsense. I used to watch him just for the guests but no longer. Someone posted that Tweety is a Democrat! Yeah, sure, just like Ronald Reagan was a Democrat at one time. Tweety does virtually no research at all and loves to repeat Kenny Mehlman's talking points as though there was some truth to them. And he's too tight with Karl Rove and all the other "inside sources." I think he has a bad case of Stockholm syndrome.

I forgot to point that that O'Lielly holds all current records for "Worst Person in the World" -- number of times in each category and number of times in a row.

Too bad only a few dozen people saw the Olbermann show to enjoy the spot. He does still have that many viewers doesn't he?

His ratings are going up.

Billy is actually dropping.
I believe that's why Bill has been whooping up and spinning his radio ratings on his tv show lately.

In the Olbermann clip, it's the part where he waves to the camera and welcomes Shrill Shill Bill as a new viewer.

Who knew obesity and high cholesterol were so insignificant...

Steve Milloy from FoxNews:

The widely-believed notion that low-fat diets are good for your health went “poof” this week – although the busting of that myth shouldn’t be news to regular readers of this column.

Steve then goes on refering to impossible to read (unless you are a doctor) JAMA articles. The smoking gun being authored by a what appears to be a nice bunch of Chinese scientist and an American translator.

*ahem*

Steve is very busy.

Fortunately, Steve is also generous and spreads his knowledge through means other than just FoxNews...just last summer it appears Steve was busy speaking to the html challenged Freedom21 group but not juuuuust about science. Heck no, he was giving "the science of giving us your pension check for freedom" speech.

You see...Steve is also the primary "ask Mr. Science" advisor for the Free Enterprise action fund.

They have an awsome money losing fund, HEY! NOBODY SAID FREEDOM IS FREE! That buys a few shares of MSFT or GE and then badgers the companies to do the right thing by "abandoning global warming policy"...

Take it away Steve!

...even if human activity is altering global climate to some extent, such climate change might actually be beneficial – historically, civilization has fared better in warmer climatic conditions as opposed to cooler climatic conditions.

Yep, wooly mammoth meat was probably a pain to hack up during the iceage.

...even if humans are undesirably affecting global climate, the best path forward may be adaptation to that climate change rather than harming the global economy through the expenditure of hundreds of billion dollars under the questionable rationale that greenhouse gas regulation can act as some sort of global thermostat.

Well I'm certainly convinced. But if you don't want GE to pay for it, subsequently bringing down the value of your funds whopping 3,000 shares why don't you do the GOP shuffle on over to DC and lobby for the addition of industrial smokestack scrubbers as budget earmarks like everyone else?

Steve goes after Microsoft using PVC in packaging:

“We are not aware of any evidence whatsoever that Microsoft’s use of PVC in packaging has harmed anyone,” said AFM’s Steve Milloy. “Moreover, we don’t think that typical exposures to dioxins and phthalates in consumer products pose any health risk whatsoever, and the findings of federal regulatory agencies support this conclusion.”

Ummm Steve. I think they were considering the manufacturing of PVC packaging in the equation, not just how it breaks up in the dump...or touching it.

Anyway what does any of this have to do with Steve, his Fox soapbox, and fatty processed foods actually being healthy you ask?

Foods that come from such wonderful fund picks like...

Coca Cola Co.
PepsiCo Inc.
General Mills
Sara Lee Corp.
Kellogg Co.
Wm Wrigley Jr.
ConAgra Foods, Inc.
Archer-Daniels-Midland
Hershey Foods
H.J. Heinz
Campbell Soup
McDonalds
Starbucks
Wendy's
YUM! Brands Inc. (KFC, Pizza Hut, Long John Silvers, Taco Bell)

I'm sure it doesn't warrant disclosing on his behalf.

Fair and Baa-aaa-aalanced.

Oh Yeah, here's a pic of Steve, with a friend

And now, off to get some more Koolaid.
(which by the way is a fund pick)

Dear Lord!

well the accolade might meet his "pithy" requirement...

but they didn't do the "state their name, state their name, state their name...if they wished to opine" thingy.

I do dig the NASA font though...it's groovy.
