Destin/Ft. Walton/Pensacola shops

My parents will be down there for vacation and my dad wants to know where he needs to go if he wanted to find some nice reef stuff. Where does he need to check out while in the area?

You mean ORA is in Ft Pierce??? Now I REALLY have a reason to go visit my cousin! She lives there!... I lived there for a summer, but it was back in 93 or 94.... I wonder if they were there then?

yup, but the tour only includes the bagging area, they don't bring you
into the greenhouses proper. they're very protective of the GH's.
it's all part of Harbor Branch Oceanographic so ORA is only a small part of it.

yah my store drives to get soem thing form them every so often they call it a campus. ora is very tiny compaired to the rest of it. it is like a research facility. however because of the hurricanes they are pretty low of stock of corals and some fish. they have whats called a bunker where they put all there corals in when things like a hurricane happen but the bunker lost power within its back up generator and most of their stuff died. the place where they keep their acros is really cool it is like a greenhouse exposed to the sun and they also have halides on runners that go up and down the rows of coral. I especially like how they do their water changes they pump water from the ocean into huge trucks and use that for their changes. Some of the things they do however I do not like like culling fish for instance. Particularly clowns this is because a lot of their clowns are inbreed and have very bad deformities like missing fins one gill, etc. but overall it is really nice and a must see for reefers.
