Exclamation What were they thinking?

Or perhaps I should ask if they were thinking at all.

The Army now admits in reports never before released that it secretly dumped 64 million pounds of nerve and mustard gas agent into the sea, along with 400,000 chemical-filled bombs, land mines and rockets and more than 500 tons of radioactive waste either tossed overboard or packed into the holds of scuttled vessels.

Such a lovely legacy to leave to our children and our children's children!

That's the most depressing thing I've read in a while. I hope I can visit the reefs before they're gone and that I can keep my aquariums going so that my children can enjoy a small piece. Stupidity like that is what's destroying everything on this planet.

According to interveiws ive seen on alternative media sources, the millitary tested nerve gases, and germ warfare on gi's in the early wars. And there was also that little incident with the DU ammo in desert storm. For them to drop this crap in the oceans comes as no surprise to me. Their just fish ya know ! Nowadays its hard to tell who the real terrorists are....

I just added two more links to my opening post, including the 4-page second part of the original article. Part II was just published today (Oct. 31st.).

In case anyone missed it, we are talking about something that was discontinued some 35 years ago. It was only discontinued after a Congressman from New York learned what the Army was doing. Congress then passed a law prohibiting the dumping of these extremely dangerous toxic weapons at sea. What is newsworthy about this story now is that we are just learning the extent of the dumping (tens of millions of pounds) over the years and some of these weapons are now leaking and causing problems locally around the world. It seems we dumped them all over the place.
