I'm not sure if you realized it or not but this thread was from November 2005 and Bush's job approval in Texas at that time was 44% vs. 52% disapproval. A year later in the November 2006 survey, his approval in Texas had fallen to 41% vs. 58% disapproval.

In a January 16, 2007 Texas survey, his approval rating was 40% but his approval rating in Harris County (Houston) was only 27% vs. 70% disapproval. That's amazing when you consider all that he has given to the oil industry.

Of course, dumb-as-dirt Dubya has no idea what his energy policy is when Darth Cheney is not there to explain it to him.

That would improve the temporary bottom line for the oil industry, but it makes America more dependent on foreign oil and hastens the depletion of oil and other energy resources. He offered a $10 billion gift to the oil companies to stimulate demand rather than a subsidy for conservation measures.

“My energy policy encourages conservation.” --George W. Bush in the second Kerry-Bush debate, Oct. 8, 2004. Bush’s policies encourage waste not conservation, e.g. a business tax credit for people who buy large SUVs (>6000 lbs).

He is not simply inarticulate; he really is dumb. To their credit, the University of Texas refused to admit him to law school in 1971 even though his father was the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations at the time. He was a legacy admission at Yale and family connections got him into Harvard Business School.

His father was captain of the baseball team and he was a cheerleader for the football team, along with his special friend, Victor Ashe, his openly gay Yale roommate who is currently our ambassador to Poland. He has had a lifelong feeling of inferiority compared to his father, which is why he constantly does the opposite of whatever his father would do. He's also an arrogant, foul-mouthed bully with subordinates when he loses his temper. I'm amazed his wife is still with him.
