Crotalus horridus
Just wanted to show you guys what I've been doing in school.
This is a 9 year old Crotalus horridus or Timber Rattlesnake caught in southern Ar by my ecology/microbiology professor and I. Enjoy the pics.

Pretty darn cool! I would get a LONGER stick though, and while your at it, maybe one that is not held together by DUCT TAPE! I would hate for it to come apart on you!

I just don't get it... rattlesnakes, mantis shrimp, scorpion fish, etc.... you can keep all of them!

She was actually very calm but you never take your eyes off of them and although I respect what she is I never got scared. I wouldnt advise anyone to just go out and do this though. The guy I was with has a doctorate in herpetology and is one of the few people I would trust to even tell me how to go about handling creatures like this one. The stick was plenty long enough since their strike range isn't what you would think and the tape just kept it from becoming shorter. A very beautiful creature.
