The Passion of the Lunatic Fringe
Funny how some people will say what they really think after a few drinks. Mel Gibson gets busted for drunk driving (87mph in a 45mph zone with 0.12 blood-alcohol level) and goes nuts! Like father, like son. Check it out. P.S. -- It's all on tape, too!

I think antisemitism and racism just make you look old... you know, like pulling out your teeth after dinner or adjusting your depends.

The Sheriff's Department is altering their records to remove Gibson's offensive remarks and belligerent behavior from the record.
On Friday, a Sheriff's Department spokesman told reporters that Gibson had been arrested that day in Malibu "without incident." In the past, Gibson has actively participated in a charity created by Sheriff Lee Baca. Baca on Saturday defended the way his department handled the case and said the actor's behavior after his arrest is not relevant to the criminal charges. (What about the fact that he tried to escape? Isn't that resisting arrest?) Baca said he has not seen the official arrest report and would not comment on what it contained. "People say stupid things when they are drunk, and they later regret it," Baca said. "You don't convict him on what he said. People aren't convicted for saying stupid things." "There is no cover-up," he said. "Our job is not to [focus] on what he said. It's to establish his blood-alcohol level when he was driving and proceed with the case. Trying someone on rumor and innuendo is no way to run an investigation, at least one with integrity." The Sheriff's Department said it has launched an investigation into the leaking of the internal documents to TMZ.com.

Career Dissapation Light blinking steadily:
http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.co...v-mini-series/ Let the damage control commence: http://www.starmagazine.com/celebrit...ssip/star/9313 http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.co...-a-death-wish/ I'm looking forward to a Barbara Walters interview involving a weeping Mel proclaiming alcohol blackouts, and tequila induced bigotry. Note to self: Avoid tequila as it results in instant bigotry... Drink rum instead. |

As Frag Hag has already linked, ABC TV has cancelled the Holocaust mini-series that Mel Gibson's company, Icon Productions, was supposed to produce. Publicly they said it had nothing to do with Gibson's drunken anti-Semitic tirade, privately they said it had everything to do with it.
The Web site Slate.com quoted Walt Disney Studios president Oren Aviv as saying he accepted Gibson's apology. Yeah, right! Additional trivia: Mel Gibson asked the arresting officer, "Are you a Jew?" The correct answer is "YES!" ![]() This was not the first time Mel Gibson has been stopped for speeding and/or drunk driving, it's just the first time they didn't let him go! The arresting officer taped the entire event! He used that audio tape to write his 8-page report with exact quotes. The most damaging four pages of that report were leaked to an industry website after the arresting officer was ordered by his superiors to rewrite the report redacting all of Gibson's offensive comments and belligerent behavior. The Sheriff's Department spokesman made a public statement that Gibson had been "arrested without incident." Nothing about the fact that he had threatened the arresting officer and attempted to escape. He had to be physically subdued and thrown into the back of the squad car. During the trip to the station he continued to spew forth anti-Semitic obscenities and told the arresting officer that he "owns Malibu." The Sheriff has ordered an internal investigation to uncover who leaked the original report. What makes this story newsworthy is not the fact that Mel Gibson has a problem with drugs and alcohol, it's that he is a hypocrite who holds himself out as a devout Christian who made The Passion of the Christ because of his deeply held religious convictions! Yeah, right! The fact that he personally made more than half a billion dollars off this venture was just a coincidence. However, this latest episode shouldn't damage his image in the eyes of his adoring fundie fan base. After all, his values are their values. They accepted him knowing that he was an admitted drug addict and drunk with a history of male chauvinism, sexism, Anglophobia, homophobia and anti-Semitism with a penchant for revisionist historical films that distorted history to promote his obsessive homophobia and Anglophobia. That was particularly true in Braveheart.

Aviv, who recently ascended to head of the Disney film studio, happens to be a committed member of the tribe that Gibson seems to blame for everything. It is well-known in Hollywood that Aviv stopped speaking to director Michael Mann in the weeks before the release of The Insider because Mann was rude and disrespectful. In fact, there are those who say that Aviv vowed never to work with Mann again. We asked Aviv whether he might also be annoyed by anti-Semitic invective and received the following statement:
"The rumored incident in regards to Michael Mann happened over seven years ago … it's behind us. He's a talented director and I respect his body of work. I've worked with Mel on several films over the years and we have a great relationship. We all make mistakes and I've accepted his apology to what was a regrettable situation. I wish him the very best on his path to healing."

Mel Gibson, through his publicist, has issued another apology.
"I don't think I want to see any more Mel Gibson movies," Barbara Walters said Monday on the ABC talk show "The View." ABC is owned by Disney, which was in the early stages of planning the marketing for Gibson's next film "Apocalypto." Maybe Oren Aviv will have to call Barbara and ask her to forgive and forget for the sake of the company?

Filed under Kiss-Ups and Brown Nosers:
Dr. Phil expressed some dismay Wednesday night about the harsh criticism against Mel Gibson for his anti-Semitic rant during his arrest. The good doctor, who appeared on "The Tonight Show," told Jay Leno: "I don't know what [Gibson] really thinks or feels." Dr. Phil added: "I certainly wouldn't judge a guy based on one comment in a drunken stupor on the side of the road at 2 o'clock in the morning." Sucking up much for Mel Gibson post arrest interview, Doc? Shay P.S. to sihaya - Thanks... Right back at ya'! |

Prior to the release of The Passion of the Christ, he was asked about his father's statements that the holocaust was "mostly fiction." He could have said, "I love my father but I don't agree with everything he says." Instead he said, "I love my father; he has never lied to me." He went on to say, "A lot of people died in World War II and some of them were Jews." He was criticized by some prior to the release of The Passion because of the way it portrayed Jews. Some people were offended that he chose to use the Gospel of Matthew instead of any of the other three versions in the New Testament. He said that he removed the "blood curse" from the film as a concession to certain critics but he didn't really remove it, he simply deleted the translation from the subtitles (or supertitles, I haven't seen the film). It's still there in Aramaic, not that it matters. Not many people are conversant in Aramaic. All of Mel's films are about pornographic violence and the words spoken by the characters are of little consequence. That's why his new movie will probably be a big success in spite of the fact that very, very few people will understand the ancient Mayan language spoken by the actors. Even the title is a stroke of genius -- Apocalypto. It should have more than enough bloody violence to keep his fans happy. As far as Dr. Phil's comments about "drunken stupor" are concerned, I'm afraid the good doctor is exaggerating. A blood-alcohol level of 0.12 does not equate to a "drunken stupor," especially for an experienced alcoholic like Mel Gibson. I'm surprised the religious right doesn't have anything to say about a self-proclaimed devout Christian family man, father of five, drinking and partying the night away without his wife. Besides, Dr. Phil is a psychologist, not a psychiatrist, so he doesn't have an M.D., just a Ph.D. in psychology. Maybe he minored in pharmacology or toxicology? Maybe we can get Dr. Frist to review the videotape and give us the benefit of his professional diagnosis? I mean, someone who can make eye contact with a blind woman should have no trouble with someone who is merely a little buzzed on tequila. ![]()

I guess his attorney figured today was a good day to get this over with, so they moved up his case. It wasn't scheduled for today. I think they figured that with the JonBenet killer taking up 90% of the cable news programs, this was their best shot to fly under the radar.
He got 3 years probation, he has to pay $1200 in fines and $100 in restitution (he broke their phone), and he has to attend AA meeting for a year! Five times a week for the first 4-1/2 months and then three times a week for the rest of the year. That should be fun! All the sneaky reporters and paparazzi will be showing up pretending to be alcoholics just so they can get a scoop. Hi, my name is Mel Gibson. Maybe you've heard of me? I own Malibu. I also started my own branch of the Catholic Church. I'm a very successful Hollywood producer who just happens to be an Anglophobic, homophobic, anti-Semitic drunk.
