The Washington Post does an in-depth feature on S.R. Sidarth, the 20-year-old honors student from the University of Virginia who was called "Macaca" recently by Sen. George F. Allen.

It's definitely recommended reading. Powerful stuff! What a contrast! They don't mention anything about Sen. Allen's student days but they don't have to. His exploits are well known: Getting suspended from Palos Verdes High School for painting "Die Whitey" on the school walls the same day the basketball team from a predominately African-American school was visiting the nearly all-white Palos Verdes HS. Wearing a Confederate Battle Flag pin all through high school. Shooting a squirrel on campus at the University of Virginia, skinning it, cooking it and eating it in his dorm to prove to those Virginia boys that he was a real "Southerner" even though he was born and raised in Southern California. Displaying the Confederate Battle Flag prominently on the wall of his law office along with an adorable hangman's noose on a Ficus tree.

I think Sen. Allen has stepped in deep macaca this time. His shot at national office is, well, shot.
