Arrow Hurricane Ernesto

Yes, it's a bit early but I figured we may as well start the thread now while everybody still has internet service.

Here is the latest 5-day projection:

They've moved the landfall projection considerably to the east since yesterday afternoon's projection. Anything could happen over the next few days but as of now it appears that they are projecting landfall somewhere near Tampa Bay. That's a lot farther to the east than where they had it yesterday afternoon. If they keeping moving it to the east, maybe it will miss Florida altogether. That would be nice!

A lot could happen over the next day or two. Two days ago they had landfall projected at the mouth of the Mississippi river and then yesterday evening they had it hitting Pensacola. Now they have it crossing over Tampa Bay at 8 a.m. Thursday.

P.S. -- The above charts will continuously update themselves.

Is this the sailboat you were telling me about?

It shows the eye passing directly over you but it will be weakened considerably if it follows the projected track. It would be a lot worse if you got hit by one coming in off the Atlantic and making landfall directly on top of you.

Yep.
It's cool though...I'm 6 boats away from being as far up the San Sebastian River as possible, right off the King Street bridge.
However, I was slated to tie up at an outside pier in a fairly open waterway (South of the Inlet in St A.) this Friday
The plan was to hang there until an inside slip opened up...days,weeks,month maybe.

Oh well.

Looks like it weakened to a tropical storm but they still show it strengthening to a hurricane again before it hits Florida. Maybe it will only be a Cat 1, in which case it should be knocked down to a TS before it hits you.

Right now they show it hitting Cuba as a hurricane, weakening to a TS in the mountains and then leaving Cuba as a hurricane.

If it continues on this projected path, Rocky will get the right eyewall just before it makes landfall. He's in Port Charlotte.

The 8 a.m. ET advisory has it even farther to the east.

It's looking a lot better than it did a few days ago. Now it looks like it will remain a bare minimum tropical storm.

Rocky,

That's what my nephew in Ft. Lauderdale told me, too. All they got from Ernesto was a breeze and some rain. And that's a good thing!

He was upset because he said he had put up the storm shutters for nothing.

It's expected to dump some serious amounts of rain on the Carolinas and here, too.
I'm down the shore right now and the ocean had changed rapidly since 7am.
We were told that it may produce some 6" of rain in my area but I seriously doubt it will be that much right where I am at.
Here's some nice pix for you guys of what the ocean looks like right now. Keep in mind I took this shots from the sixth floor and about 1000 feet away, so the waves are much bigger in person when you get near the water.I will be going accross the street in a little bit and post some more pictures from up close.

PS. I also uploaded a picture of what the ocean looks like on a calm day.
