How reefing changed my life!

About a year ago I was working as a lab assistant and had been for about three years, then the company I worked for didn’t get the big contract and had to make a few employees redundant.
I was one of them.
I thought as im still young ill go for a career change, so I phoned up the local college and booked my self up for an art & design course.
In the time before my course was going to start (9 months) I got rather board and wanted a pet, I asked my dad he said “the only pet you can have is fish” I was disappointed as I wanted a dog, but thought I would get a fish tank any ways. Well the first tank I got was 30cm long 20cm wide and 20cm tall, had a gold fish in it I swiftly got board of that after about 2 weeks and wanted more.
So I got a bigger tank more fish etc... And I was content for a few months
until I saw a friends fish only marine tank, I was amazed at how colourful his fish were and how beautifully they swam and had to have one.
So I got part exchange for my freshwater fish, and 6 months, £500 and a LOT of reading down the road im absolutely hooked on this hobby, so much I quit the art course I was on and went back to science (pre degree, chemistry & biology for 1 year then marine biology degree 3 years) and now im only 4 years away form having a degree in marine biology.

And it’s my first day tomorrow, yey me!!

Cheers James

James,
Congratulation and good luck in school! It is *SO* important to do something you like in life... and enjoy your time at the university!

Dude... tell me about it. My car is weighed down with an odd combination of texts. The ones on Constitution Law and Federal Civil Procedure are only a few inches from the ones on Invertebrate Marine Biology and Biochemistry.

My husband once looked at me taking down notes from one of my chem lab books from college and said "I thought this reefing thing was a hobby... why does it always look like you're working?" LOL
