It's one of those "God's will" issues. At least he was correct in not choosing Katherine Harris to be one of our leaders.
I missed that one up there.

Joe Scarborough was saying that at 8 p.m. on election night President Bush offered his opinion that it looked like they were in for a drumming. Karl Rove reassured him that there was no way they were going to lose either the House or the Senate. This was at 8 p.m. on November 7th.
Rove was still sticking with his previous prediction that they wouldn't lose more than 8-12 seats in the House and no more than three seats in the Senate. And he apparently believed it!
Is Bush's brain merely brain damaged or brain-dead?

On C-SPAN, Lt. Gov. Michael Steele actually defended his use of the word "Democrat" under his name in his campaign flyers on election day. You may remember that we talked about this earlier in this thread on November 7th.
What happened is that Gov. Ehrlich, who was running for re-election, and Lt. Gov. Steele, who was running as the GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate, had three or four busloads of homeless men (mostly African-Americans) picked up at homeless shelters and drug treatment clinics in Philadelphia and transported to Maryland to hand out campaign flyers in predominately African-American districts on election day. The flyers identified both Ehrlich and Steele as Democrats. The word Republican did NOT appear anywhere on the flyers. The newly recruited campaign workers were paid $100 each and offered refreshments by the governor's wife, who greeted them as they arrived in Maryland.
These two clowns pulled this same stunt four years ago, only then they picked up homeless people in the Washington, D.C. area.
On C-SPAN, Steele claimed that he has been using the slogan "Steele, Democrat" for weeks now in an effort to attract Democratic voters. He said he was appealing to the sort of Democratic voters who voted for Ronald Reagan and were thereafter referred to as "Reagan Democrats" in the news media. So when he printed up signs that read, "STEELE, DEMOCRAT," he wasn't trying to be misleading, he was just appealing to Democrats to vote for him. He didn't think it was necessary to add that he happened to be the Republican Lt. Governor and former Republican Party Chairman of the state. He's sure all the voters already knew that. All he was trying to do is "appeal to Democrats" to vote for him. That's why the flyers and the signs were blue and did not mention the word "Republican." Doing so might have offended the nice Democratic voters that he was asking to vote for him.

P.S. -- Both Ehrlich and Steel lost to real Democrats!

...now that the Democrats have taken control of both the House and the Senate:
Fox News internal memo: "Be on the lookout for any statements from the Iraqi insurgents...thrilled at the prospect of a Dem controlled Congress."
You can read the entire fair and balanced memo here.
And speaking of Fox News, the Palestinian terrorists who captured those two Fox News employees a few months back and then released them are now claiming that they received $2 million ransom for them from "someone" acting on behalf of Fox News. Fox News says "it's possible" that a ransom was paid. The Palestinian terrorists say they are using the money to buy more weapons and look forward to doing more business with U.S. news organizations in the near future.

If you plan on being in Seattle the middle of January, you won't want to miss Mackris v. O'Reilly: The Opera!
It should be a fun evening, complete with paranoid rants, clumsy sexual innuendo and the famous falafael fantasy.

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- In a new TV interview and book, O.J. Simpson discusses how he would have committed the slayings of his ex-wife and her friend "if I did it."
The two-part television interview, titled "O.J. Simpson: If I Did It, Here's How It Happened," will air November 27 and November 29 on Fox, the TV network said Tuesday.
"O.J. Simpson, in his own words, tells for the first time how he would have committed the murders if he were the one responsible for the crimes," the network said in a statement. "In the two-part event, Simpson describes how he would have carried out the murders he has vehemently denied committing for over a decade."
I can't threaten to stop watching them because I almost never watch them and I never watch their news programs. I only watch them if schrocat tells me they're making fools of themselves, like they did election night.
I do send them emails from time to time telling them that they are a bunch of lowlife morons. Don't forget, this is the network that promoted the proposition that the Apollo moon landings were fake. They ran that crockumentary over and over again. They insisted that it was based on facts and that it provided a valuable alternative view that their viewers appreciated.

The new chairman of the Republican National Committee, Mel Martinez, believes that abortions should be illegal in every instance -- absolutely no exceptions. No exceptions for rape! No exceptions for incest! No exceptions to save the life of the mother! Mel would definitely agree with the 10-yr-old child should be forced to carry the pregnancy to term! Absolutely! No questions asked.Originally Posted by Ninong

Maybe they named Mel to replace Mehlman as a move to appease the fundamentalist Christians? You know, all those rumors about Mehlman's personal life were beginning to annoy the fundies. They wanted someone who was rapidly anti-gay and Mel is certainly that in his public statements; but alas, like Rick Santorum and George Allen, he hires a lot of gay staffers, even openly gay staffers.
In his 2004 Senate race Mel hired Kirk Fordham, the openly gay chief of staff to Mark Foley and later Tom Reynolds, and he hired John Dowless, the openly gay former executive director of the Christian Coalition of Florida. I guess he was just practicing his Christian principles like Pastor Ted. When they asked Pastor Ted why he kept seeing Mike Jones, the gay hustler, he said God told him to hate the sin but love the sinner.
:eek3:
P.S. -- Maybe Charlie Crist has an opening for all those staffers who used to work for Foley, Santorum and Allen?

Hi All,
I did not mean the last post to be another "drive-by" My work/home life tends to "swallow me up" at lot these days.
This is a subject where "men of principal" agree to disagree I guess…
I don't quite agree with interfering with the operation of abortion clinics as is militant intervention. However for many in the pro-life movement, America has perpetrated a holocaust, as surly as NAZI Germany did…

Justice Department Won't Investigate Flier Distribution
Nov 18th - 12:03pm
WASHINGTON - The Justice Department says it won't investigate misleading fliers that Republicans distributed in Maryland on Election Day.
The fliers promoted the candidacies of Governor Robert Ehrlich and Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele.
Acting Assistant Attorney General James Clinger says there's not enough legal basis to support such an investigation.
The fliers were authorized by the campaigns of Ehrlich, who lost his bid for a second term, and Steele, who was defeated by Congressman Ben Cardin in his bid for a Senate seat.
They implied that the two candidates had been endorsed by prominent black Democrats, including former NAACP leader Kweisi Mfume and Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson.
Neither had endorsed the GOP candidates.
P.S. -- How can you be the so-called "values party" without having any actual, you know, values?
