Obviously, Dr. Dino and many others who utilize any belief system, including the belief system that "buys votes" by promising to take from those to work hard maybe have more and give it to those who do not work as hard or have less, to gain power or money are deserving of all jail sentences, etc. that are put upon them. And yes, innocent or "stupid" people fall for many cons. Haven't you ever bought something or believed something that ended up being a lie or a con. I think we have all been "taken" a few times. However, the 6000 years thing is not as simple as it may sound. Certainly, there is much room for the different translations from language to language over the centuries, etc. After all, more than a few people had to die in order to translate the Bible into a "common" language that most people could read - doing so was considered a crime punishable by death in those times. Hence the reason for our system of separation of church and state- we could debate the meaning of that "all night" I am sure. Back to the point - Who knows what was changed or by who regarding the details of things written down or just told orally centuries ago during the times when most people could not read or write and there were no Bibles in the common lauguages read by those who could. I prefer to think of it as a "god thing" that maybe I dont need to understand in order to have faith in my God and my salvation through Jesus.

The "6,000 years thing" is the topic of this thread. We are talking about "Dr. Dino" and his Dinosaur Adventure Land:

"There are dinosaur bone replicas, with accompanying explanations that God made dinosaurs on Day 6 of the creation as described in Genesis, 6,000 years ago."

These people believe that humans and dinosaurs coexisted! Obviously they must have to block out all of the nature channels on their TV.

Re: Another fundamentalist Christian wingnut is going to jail:

Has anybody heard from Dr. Dino lately?

Looks like he's still at the Federal Correctional Institution in Edgefield, South Carolina. His projected release date is 7-19-2015. I hope they finally gave him a pillow.

"Send postcards and letters to:

Kent E. Hovind #06452-017
FCI Edgefield
P.O. BOX 725
Edgefield, SC. 29824 USA

Send him a letter or a postcard! A funny postcard would be a nice thing to send." Use your imagination.

He still talks to God regularly and posts the conversations on his jailhouse blog. According to this entry from Sept. 26, he now thinks he's the son of God:

"kh: Thanks, God. I love you.
God: I love you too, son. More than you can know."

Speaking of sons, Baby Dino (Eric, his middle son) has now taken over the Dinosaur Adventureland franchise and is touring the country preaching that the universe is 6,000 years old and that evolution is responsible for all the wars and other man-made disasters that have plagued us over the past century and a half. No mention of the Bush Administration.

Here is a GodTube presentation by Eric "Baby Dino" Hovind that explains the 6,000-year-old universe and the horrors of evolution. People who bought that idea also bought these other lovely videos that explain everything you ever wanted to know about the Garden of Eden with the talking snake and how it never rained on Earth before Noah's flood. I looked but I couldn't find the one on how to avoid paying income taxes to the IRS.

P.S. -- Mama Dinosaur (Jo Hovind) is "in transit" to prison.

Re: Another fundamentalist Christian wingnut is going to jail:

"Creation Science Evangelism explains in detail how it was possible for man to live over 900 years, for plants and animals to grow much larger than today, and for dinosaurs to thrive along with man."
