Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Just how stupid are the mainstream media types?
This stupid: They're repeating the results of a Zogby poll that reported that Sen. Hillary Clinton trails all five of the leading GOP presidential candidates in a head-to-head poll. First of all, doesn't that seem odd? After all, other recent polls showed Sen. Clinton leading every one of the GOP presidential candidates in a head-to-head, some of them by double digits? What's up? Well, for starters, Zogby didn't use a random sample. It was an internet poll of internet users who had opted in. So the only people they polled were people who had asked to be polled. What sort of poll is that? It's certainly has no scientific validity whatsoever because they didn't choose a representative random sample. I hate to bust their bubble, but Hillary Clinton is NOT trailing the entire field of Republican candidates. That's a myth! ![]() P.S. -- Zogby claims to have polled 9,150 people online, every single one of whom opted in.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Gallup Poll released November 26, 2007 shows Hillary Clinton leading every single GOP candidate!
Zogby published a poll claiming that Hillary Clinton trailed all five of the leading GOP presidential candidates and then, just hours later, Gallup released a poll they conducted Nov. 11-14, 2007 nationwide of a representative random sample. November 2007 Gallup Poll Clinton, 49% Giuliani, 44% Clinton, 50% McCain, 44% Clinton, 54% Romney, 38% Clinton, 53% Thompson, 40% They didn't poll Huckabee. Most respectable national polls have shown Clinton with a lead of 3-6% over Giuliani and McCain and a double digit lead over Romney and Thompson. Those same polls have shown Barack Obama leading all of the GOP presidential candidates, too. Zogby has damaged their reputation by publishing a poll of Internet users who opted in. That's absurd!

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Anybody else force themselves to watch the GOP candidates' CNN YouTube Debate?
I forced myself to watch the whole thing. The last CNN debate, the one with Wolf Blitzer annoying the Democratic candidates, was so boring and unbearable that I switched channels halfway through. I thought maybe this debate would be somewhat better with Anderson Cooper as the MC. I was wrong! It was a circus! Whoever thought up the idea of the YouTube questions should have his head examined. Anderson did ask Rudy Giuliani about the latest embarrassing leak that hundreds of thousands of dollars in charges for overtime pay, per diem and expensive hotel rooms for his NYPD security detail during the mayor's weekend visits with his mistress in the Hamptons somehow ended up charged to city agencies that had absolutely nothing to do with Rudy's security. Rudy blamed the police! He say it was their job to provide him with 24/7 security and he assumes that they handled the accounting properly. If you have any questions about that, ask the police. Hey, I just remembered something. Bernie Kerik was in charge of the NYPD then. And he was shacking up with not one, but two mistresses simultaneously. I can think of an innocent explanation that might be more believable. Rudy's wife, Donna Hanover, had her own security detail and driver so Rudy was forced to provide a security detail and driver for his mistress, Judi Nathan. It seems Rudy shacked up with Judi in the Hamptons on weekends. During the week they made out at Rudy's emergency command center suite in the World Trade Center. I think the mainstream media is making too much of these little details. It's probably because they're not used to having a thrice-married serial adulterer as a major party presidential candidate. After seven years of the Cheney-Bush Criminal Gang, they should be used to the moral bankruptcy and staggering hypocrisy that epitomizes today's GOP by now.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Bernie Kerik says Giuliani did nothing wrong.
“There would be no need for anyone to conceal his detail’s travel expenses,” said Mr. Kerik, who was indicted earlier this month on unrelated federal tax fraud and corruption charges. “And I think It’s ridiculous for anyone to suggest that the mayor or his staff attempted to do so.” Here. P.S. -- I guess that settles it. Bernie was not only police commissioner at the time, he's also an expert on extramarital affairs. P.P.S. -- As a refresher: Bernie Kerik was carrying on an affair with Judith Regan and Jeannette Pinero simultaneously. He ran into a problem when Ms. Regan left him a "romantic note" that was discovered by Mrs. Pinero (yes, she's married too). Kerik's luv shack was actually an apartment that had been donated to the city for use by emergency workers at ground zero, but which Kerik kept for his exclusive use. Rudy Giuliani used his emergency command center in the World Trade Center for quickies. The latest dustup is over his eleven weekend trips to Southampton, where his mistress Judi Nathan had a condominium. Nathan was not Giuliani's first mistress while he was mayor of New York. When he got tired of his previous mistress, who worked for him in public relations at city hall, he found her a $250,000/year job elsewhere in government. Judith Regan was the publisher of Kerik's book. She was also the published of O.J. Simpson's book. She's currently suing Rupert Murdoch for $100 million for firing her. Jeannette Pinero was a correction officer in New York City. Like Giuliani, Kerik was married with children at the time of his affairs. In fact, Giuliani is the godfather to two of Kerik's children, including the one that Kerik's wife was pregnant with at the time her husband was carrying on with Pinero and Regan. Actually the Kerik-Pinero affair had been going on for ten years when it came unglued because of Judith Regan. Evidently Pinero was shocked that Kerik would cheat on her. You might say there was a whole lotta cheatin' going on. Both Bernie Kerik and Rudy Giuliani have been married three times. Kerik also has a daughter who was born in October 1975 to a woman identified as Sun-Ja. Kerik deserted both of them when he left Korea in 1976. He then married Linda Hales in 1978. They were divorced in 1983. He forgot to tell Judith Regan about that marriage because it's not in his autobiography. Kerik then married Jacqueline Llerena in September 1983. They have a son born in June 1985. He divorced Llerena in 1992. He married Hala Matli in 1998. They have two daughters. Giuliani is their godfather.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Questions for Rudy Giuliani
Will Rudy promise that if elected president the U.S. taxpayers will not be required to pay for Secret Service details for his wife and his mistresses? Who paid for the city car and driver given to Judi Nathan while she was still Rudy's mistress? Who paid for her security detail? If Rudy is elected president, will we have to pay for travel expenses and security details for his wife and his mistresses? When he was mayor of New York, his wife, Donna Hanover had her own security detail. New York City police detectives even accompanied her on trips to California. At the same time, his mistress, Judi Nathan, had her own security detail and a city car and driver at her disposal. Bonus question: Will Rudy show up in drag at his inaugural ball?

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Giuliani refuses to answer reporters' questions about how much taxpayer money he wasted on his mistresses and why he hid the charges.
OKATIE, SC -- Giuliani refused to take questions here today about allegations that travel expenses were picked up by obscure city offices when he was mayor of New York City. “We’ve already explained it,” he said, walking past reporters after a town hall meeting. Giuliani, who is normally friendly to reporters, bristled past them, and campaign staffers were unusually physical in keeping the press away. Several campaign aides told campaign reporters to return to the press area, and some of his security detail manhandled reporters. Here.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
"This is nothing more than partisan politics aimed at the Republican front-runner." -- Maria Comella, Giuliani's press secretary.
Did Ms. Comella deny that Judi Nathan, when she was Giuliani's mistress, was provided with a car and driver? No, she didn't. Did she deny the assertion that Nathan used the police detail to ferry around friends and family even when she herself was not in the car? No, she didn't. Did she deny that Giuliani hid the true costs of his many weekend trips to Southampton to shack up with his mistress by charging them to obscure city agencies? No, she didn't. Did she deny that Giuliani prepaid $400,000 on an American Express travel account in early 2001 and charged it to a city agency that provides legal services for indigent defendants? No, she didn't. Actually if would be very difficult for her to deny this because Michael Bloomberg's office has already acknowledged that they asked for and received a $298,000 refund from American Express on the unused portion of that prepaid travel. Apparently Giuliani had only used up $102,000 against that credit by the time he left office. It was just another of Giuliani's gimmicks to hide the cost of his personal travel expenses that could be traced back to his weekend excursions to the Hamptons to visit his mistress. What does Giuliani have to say about this? He's refusing to answer any more questions on this topic. He said he has already explained it. What did Giuliani have to say about this topic when it was first raised way back in 2001? "If you had any concern for people's safety, you'd have the decency to leave it alone. You should be ashamed of yourselves," the former mayor said back in 2001. What did Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik have to say? He said the police detail for Judi Nathan was approved by the NYPD (meaning him). He said it was because she had received a specific threat. "It wasn't about her being the mayor's girlfriend," Kerik said. "The person spoke to her by name and made comments to her." So, there you have it boys and girls, if Rudy Giuliani is elected president, the Secret Service will have to provide protection details for his girlfriends if anyone speaks to them by name and makes comments. They would also have to provide protection details for his two children, even if they're not on speaking terms with their father, unless they are allowed to opt out. You might remember that this was sore subject with two of Reagan's children when he was in office. And during Gerry Ford's brief time in the White House, his then-19-year-old son, Stephen, was known for ditching his Secret Service detail on dates. The Bush twins are accompanied by the Secret Service everywhere they go. When George W. Bush retires, he will have a special Secret Service detail of more than 100 agents to protect him. It will be by far the largest USSS detail provided to any former president. P.S. -- Let us not forget that Mayor Giuliani marched at the head of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City accompanied by his mistress while he was still married to Donna Hanover. Let us also not forget that Mayor Giuliani showed up at St. Patrick's Cathedral accompanied by his mistress while still married to Donna Hanover. And who will ever forget that nationally televised press conference when Mayor Giuliani announced that he had filed for divorce from his wife, Donna Hanover, without having had the decency to inform her or their two children in advance. His wife and children learned that he had filed for divorce on national teevee along with the rest of the country. What a class act! Let's not bring up his family's mafia ties because that would be blaming him for the sins of his father and uncle and something that he had no control over. Does anyone really believe for one minute that the "family values" GOP would not be making a big issue out of a Democratic's candidate's personal life if it came anywhere close to matching Giuliani's?

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Now that the Huckster is gaining in the polls, the MSM is beginning to check out his past.
Rudy Giuliani's little "Sex on the City" scandal is taking a toll on his poll numbers and this has allowed Rev. Mick Huckabee to rise in the polls nationally. A couple of weeks ago it was reported that he was neck and neck with Mitt Romney in Iowa and then yesterday it was reported that he's neck and neck with Giuliani nationally and slightly ahead of Romney. CBS is regurgitating the problem the Huckster has because of his personal involvement in the parole of a rapist who then went on to murder and rape one, possibly two, women within months after his release. You can read all about it here. This story was covered in detail in Arkansas a couple of years ago here. Back in 1985, a high school student was raped. She's a distant cousin of Bill Clinton and her father was a prominent contributor to Clinton's campaign. Her rapist was convicted and sent to prison. Rev. Huckabee was convinced that Clinton's cousin was not believable and that the man was innocent. As soon as he was elected governor, he sent the guy a letter in prison promising to get him out. At first he was going to commute his sentence to time served but there was a lot of backlash to that idea, so he instead pressured the state parole board to release him. Governor Huckabee showed up in person at a secret parole board meeting that was deliberately not recorded and urged that they change their minds about releasing this prisoner. The board had just voted a few months earlier to not release him. No less than half a dozen officials have confirmed this version of events, including four members of the parole board. Six weeks after his release, he raped and murdered a young woman in Missouri. This time he was convicted on DNA evidence. He's also supected in a second murder in Missouri. After the guy was convicted of murder and rape in Missouri, Rev. Huckabee lied about his role in having him paroled. He insisted that he had absolutely nothing to do with it and that it was entirely up to the parole board. That was an outright lie! This just adds fuel to the fire. The Huckster was found guilty of eight separate ethics violations while governor of Arkansas. Little things like forgetting to report $100,000 in personal gifts that he accepted. He said it was a paperwork oversight. He finally filed the reports late. He kept the gifts. I believe that was one year's haul. Evidently his only violation was in not reporting the gifts. And then there is the problem of the Little Huckster. When his son David was an 18-year-old Boy Scouts counselor, he and his buddy tortured and murdered a stray dog to death in front of the scouts. They hanged the dog by its neck and then stoned it to death. Must have been something he learned in Bible class? And in college, the Little Huckster was accused of misappropriating several thousand dollars in student funds. Governor Huckabee made sure that his son was not charged with animal cruelty in the torture of that poor dog. The Boy Scouts fired him and the other counselor immediately based on numerous eye witness reports. The Little Huckster made the news earlier this year when he was arrested trying to board a plane with a loaded 40-caliber Glock in his carry-on luggage. His daddy said it was "a foolish mistake."

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Huckabee hasn't even heard of the NIE on Iran that was released yesterday!
The Huckster is only slightly out of touch. This evening at an on-the-record dinner in Des Moines, a reporter asked him what he thought about the latest NIE on Iran. Rev. Huckabee had no idea what the reporter was talking about, so the reporter took about five minutes to explain it to him and then asked him if this latest revelation that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program way back in 2003 caused him to rethink his approach to Iran. Huckabee, who obviously has no clue whatsoever what an NIE report actually represents, went on to question the accuracy of the report. He said that he had been told just two weeks ago that Iran was expanding its nuclear weapons program. He said he would have questions about the source of this new information. The NIE report is the compilation of all 16 U.S. intelligence gathering agencies. It is the official position of the government of the United States. This particular NIE report was finished more than a year ago but Dick Cheney blocked it. He refused to allow it to be published in any form, classified or not, because its conclusions did not fit in with his agenda. And George W. Bush held a press conference claiming that he first learned of the new NIE report's conclusions just last week. That's a lie! His national security adviser, Stephen Hadley, had just told reporters earlier that the president was informed of the report's conclusions "a few months ago." That's also a lie! He was informed of its conclusions sometime in 2006 but he and Cheney refused to accept the report and sent it back for reevaluation. This latest NIE on Iran was completed more than a year ago. They may have been double- and triple-checking it since then at the insistence of the president and they may have made minor changes but the central conclusion that Iran had discontinued its nuclear weapons program was widely known at the highest levels of our government since the fall of 2006. The NIE states: "We judge with high confidence that in fall 2003, Tehran halted its nuclear weapons program" because of international pressure. It's nice to see that there are still a few people left in government who refuse to be bullied by the Cheney-Bush Criminal Gang.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
The Huckster is a shameless liar!
Check out this ABC News video clip of Rev. Huckabee lying his ass off about not having anything to do with freeing the guy who raped a 17-yr-old student in Arkansas and then raped and murdered two more women in Missouri after Rev. Huckabee made a top-secret personal visit to the Parole Board to pressure them to release this cretin. Why would the Huckster do something like that, especially after he had received letters from two other women in Arkansas telling him that they too had been raped by this guy? There are a couple of reasons: (1) For whatever weird reasons, this rapist had strong support among the fundamentalist Christian movement and they exerted pressure on Pastor Huckabee to do "the Christian thing" and forgive this guy who they said was wrongly convicted, and (2) because the victim was a distant relative of Bill Clinton and her father was a big Democratic campaign contributor. Huckabee in that ABC News video clip continues to lie about his personal visit to the parole board and he even lied about receiving the letters from the other two women in Arkansas prior to this guy's release. Then, later in the day, the Huckster's campaign issued a statement saying that one of the letters is authentic. What a lying bunch of dog-stoners! I hope the Republicans do nominate this relic from the 12th century. The guy is a snake oil salesman and a moron. In this brief video clip, Rev. Huckabee explains that his rise in the polls is God's will.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Rev. Huckster, non-stop, wall-to-wall lying!
Huckabee is such a pathetic creep! He is still insisting that he did not pressure the parole board to release that rapist who then went on to rape and murder two more women! Huckabee pointed out that he wasn't the one who reduced the guy's sentence from life to 39 years, that was former Gov. Jim Guy Tucker, a Democrat. Huckabee forgets that he was the one who wanted to commute the 39-year sentence as soon as he took office. In fact, he did manage to knock 25 years off the sentence by getting him paroled. Here's where the fun part comes in. Huckabee said that the three parole board members who are accusing him of pressuring the board to release the rapist were all appointed by former Gov. Bill Clinton, the implication being that they're all lying. ABC News has just published an interview with Gov. Huckabee's criminal justice counsel and this guy is accusing his former boss of lying his ass off. He confirms that Huckabee did ask the board to reconsider their previous denial of parole and told them that he thought the rapist got a raw deal. ![]() Not only that, this attorney says that he knows that the governor received information about the rapist's alleged role in a murder while serving in the Army. And remember the two letters from women who wrote to Huckabee saying that they too had been raped by this guy, the letters Huckabee at first denied knowing anything about and then his campaign later acknowledged one of them as being authentic? Remember that? Well, the governor's counsel says that he personally called one of those women and put her on the phone with Gov. Huckabee so that she could personally talk to the governor to try to talk him out of his decision to parole this rapist. Huckabee forgot all about that call. So how does Huckabee respond to these latest revelations from this afternoon? In an interview Wednesday afternoon, Huckabee told ABC News he believed the Dumond story was a "complete exploitation." "What a sad thing that in an election year, we're going to take the grief of these people...and make this a political issue, and try to point fingers and blame." It's bad enough that he screwed up but he has the unmitigated gall to lie about it and accuse everyone else of political exploitation. A couple of days ago he said he didn't know anything about those letters and then, later that same day, his campaign office released a statement admitting that at least one of the letters was authentic. Now we have his aide telling ABC News that he personally put the woman on the phone with Governor Huckabee in an attempt to convince him to change his mind. Rev. Huckabee doesn't believe in evolution. He believes in young earth creationism. God created Adam and Eve in a Garden of Eden complete with a talking snake to lead them astray. When Huckabee was governor of Arkansas, teachers were not allowed to discuss evolution in class. They were not even allowed to use the expression "millions of years." They could say, "This rock is very old." They could not say, "This rock is millions of years old." Evolution was not taught and even the word "evolution" was to be avoided. Huckabee has always said that he believes that creationism should be taught in public schools as an alternative to filthy reality-based science. Now that he's running for national office, his new version is that such matters should be left to the individual states to decide what they want to teach in school. The Supreme Court has already ruled that creationism cannot be taught in public schools. That was in response to a dumb Louisiana law that required equal time for creationism whenever evolution was taught. And that was settled back in the 1980's. P.S. -- Huckabee was one of three GOP presidential candidates who raised their hands to confirm that they do NOT believe in evolution. The other two were Sam Brownback and Tom Tancredo. The United States ranks almost dead last among developed nations when it comes to acceptance of evolution. We were just above Turkey. In most European countries, evolution is accepted by more than three-fourths of the population. Acceptance of evolution in the Scandanavian countries is around 90%. In the U.S., 49% believe in evolution and 48% do not, 2% have no opinion. That number is dragged down by the 68% of Republicans who do not believe in evolution. That Gallup poll was taken May 2007. P.P.S. -- While we're on the topic of people who don't believe in evolution, remember Sherri Shepherd of The View? She's the dumb as dirt co-host who said that she not only did not believe in evolution but she didn't know if the Earth was flat or not. Remember her? Well, now she's claiming that Christianity is the world's oldest religion. The other ladies are trying to explain to her that the Romans had gods and the Greeks had gods but Sherri corrected them by telling them at Jesus came first, before all those Romans and Greeks. And Jesus' own religion, Judaism, predated Christianity. This woman is an amazing peice of work. Here. That video clip won't last long. They'll probably delete it just as they deleted the clip where she said she didn't believe in evolution and didn't know whether the Earth was flat or not.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Mitt Romney shocked that he still has undocumented workers mowing his lawn!
It seems that after Rudy Giuliani attacked MittWit in the latest GOP presidential candidates debate for maintaining a "sanctuary mansion," a couple of commie pinko liberal reporters in Boston decided to check up to see if the same illegal gardeners from Guatemala were still cutting Mitt's grass. Guess what? Two of the gardeners admitted to the reporters that they were indeed undocumented immigrants. After the story broke, Mitt immediately released a copy of a letter he sent today firing his landscaping company. That would be the same landscaping company and probably the exact same illegal Guatemalans that got him in trouble in the past. So now Our Lady of the Concentration Camps, Michelle Malkin, is blaming the Democrats for attacking Romney on this issue to embarrass him. Last time I checked, Rudy Giuliani was still a Republican. He's the guy who's making a big issue of it. No doubt Tom Tancrazy will have something to say about this, too.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Huckabee can't make the Dumond story go away.
No matter how hard he spins it, Mike Huckabee just can't seem to make this story go away. Even his own top aide, the guy the campaign suggested the media talk to, agrees that Huckabee pressured the parole board to release Dumond. Here. Huckabee had Wayne Dumond released for purely political reasons. The whackjobs on the religious right were convinced that Bill Clinton's distant cousin, the 17-year-old rape victim, had lied and that then-Governor Clinton had caused an innocent man to be sent to prison. Even after Huckabee's own legal counsel put another woman on the phone with him to tell him personally that she too had been raped by Dumond, Huckabee persisted in his determination to see Dumond go free to spite the Clintons. The father of the 17-year-old rape victim was a prominent contributor to Bill Clinton's gubernatorial campaigns in Arkansas. The "vast right-wing conspiracy," as Hillary calls it, was determined to free Dumond to back up their claim that he had been railroaded by the Clintons. Huckabee had Dumond released to satisfy his own campaign contributors who were pushing for it. Of course, knowing just how dumb Huckabee really is, it's quite likely that he really did believe the lies that were being put forth by the crackpots who insisted that Dumond was innocent and that Clinton's distant cousin was lying. Rev. Huckabee should practice what he preaches and stop "bearing false witness." Huckabee is a lying sack of manure.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
This is NOT another Willie Horton!
Some people are comparing Huckabee's problem with Wayne Dumond to Michael Dukakis' problem with Willie Horton, but the two situations are entirely different. When Dukakis was governor of Massachusetts, he continued an existing program of furloughs for inmates, even those serving life sentences, as a way of "rehabilitating" the inmates. Willie Horton was one of the inmates who was allowed out on furlough who didn't return and then raped and murdered a woman. Here's the difference: Dukakis didn't know Willie Horton at all. He just happened to be one of the inmates who went bad while on furlough. Huckabee was warned by his own legal counsel that Wayne Dumond was a serious threat to the community and that he had raped more than one woman. Huckabee received letters from two women who told him they had been previous rape victims of Dumond. Huckabee's own aide decided to call one of those women and put her on the phone with Huckabee in an effort to dissuade the governor from his decision to see Dumond set free. Dukakis was guilty of supporting a program that proved ill-advised. He did not personally set Willie Horton free. He didn't even know Willie Horton. Huckabee personally worked to free Wayne Dumond even in the face of convincing proof that Dumond was a dangerous rapist who was likely to strike again. And then, after Dumond did strike again, Huckabee lied about his true role in the parole board's decision. P.S. -- Just for the record, I'm using the name "Willie" for Horton only because that's the way he will always be remembered thanks to Lee Atwater and Roger Ailes, who were George H. W. Bush's campaign gurus at the time. His real name was William R. Horton and he never went by the name "Willie." That was dreamed up by Atwater and Ailes in an attempt to get more racial mileage out of it. As Roger Ailes said at the time, the only question was whether they depicted Horton with a knife in his hand or without one. They also darkened the photograph to make him appear more scary. Roger Ailes went on to become president of Fox News.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Romney finally gave his long-awaited religion speech.
I was disappointed. I was hoping he would tell us all about his magic underwear. You can read all about this non-event here. Romney said nothing about the Mormon religion and instead concentrated on explaining that there should be no religious test for candidates for public office. He's absolutely correct but that makes for a very dull speech. If he really believed this, then he should have given a different answer during the stupid CNN YouTube debate when they showed the YouTube clip of the wide-eyed Bible-thumper asking the candidates if they believe in what's written in this book, the Bible. Romney replied that he believed absolutely every word in the Bible because it's the word of God, blah, blah, blah. He should have told the CNN moderator that the question was totally inappropriate as there should be no religious test for candidates for public office. He should have told the CNN moderator that he believed every word in the Constitution and that was the only document a candidate for president should be required to believe in. Romney's trying to have it both ways. He's trying to use religion to his advantage by claiming to be a devout Christian, but, having introduced religion into his campaign, he doesn't want to have to explain his particular religious beliefs that are different from other Christian denominations, and that's putting it mildly. And just last week Romney said that he would not appoint a Muslim to his cabinet, so he obviously doesn't really believe what he's now preaching. No doubt he will change his views again between now and the Iowa caucuses. P.S. -- A reporter asked Rev. Huckabee if he thought Mormism was Christianity and Rev. Huckabee said he didn't know the answer to that question. He suggested that the reporter ask Mitt Romney to answer that question. Maybe Rev. Huckabee is worried that if Romney is seen as a Christian, it would take away from Huckabee's ads proclaiming himself as "the Christian leader" who is running for president. After all, Romney is a former bishop and state president in the LDS church, so that probably outranks Huckabee's little Bible college diploma.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Sex on the City (Cont'd.):
Judith Nathan got taxpayer-funded chauffeur services from the NYPD earlier than previously disclosed - even before her affair with then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani was revealed, witnesses and sources tell the Daily News. "It went on for months before the affair was public," said Lee Degenstein, 52, a retired Smith Barney vice president who formerly lived at 200 E. 94th St., Nathan's old building. "It was going on longer than anybody thought," added Degenstein, who, along with others in the neighborhood, said they often saw Nathan hopping into unmarked NYPD cars in early 2000, before the affair was revealed that May. When pressed by The News Thursday, aides to the Republican presidential hopeful conceded that Nathan got police protection "sporadically" before December 2000 - the previously acknowledged beginning of her taxpayer-funded detail. Then-Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik said in January 2001 the NYPD assigned Nathan round-the-clock protection the month before because of an unspecified threat against her on a streetcorner near her home. He insisted at a news conference she had no guards until then. Thursday, Giuliani aides changed their story. They said Nathan had received previously undisclosed "threats" earlier in 2000, and that protection was provided at those times. They refused to provide dates, describe the nature of the threats or confirm - as witnesses and a law enforcement source now contend - that the protection began before she was publicly identified as the married mayor's girlfriend in May 2000. That would make the threat justification all the more puzzling, because she wasn't a public figure. You can read the rest of the sleaze here. P.S. -- And, in case that's not enough hot GOP "family values" for you, check out the latest "family values" Republican political operative to be caught with his pants down. You just can't make this stuff up! No one would believe it. They would say you made it up to embarrass the Republican party just because they're a bunch of lying hypocrites.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Giuliani's Family Values = GOP Family Values
Rudy Giuliani married Regina Peruggi in 1968. The best man at his wedding was Alan Placa, a seminarian two years away from ordination at the time. Giuliani and Placa have been friends since grammar school. Rudy began "dating" Donna Hanover in 1982 while still married to Regina Peruggi. Rudy's friend, Msgr. Alan Placa, who was best man at his first wedding, assisted Rudy in getting the Catholic church to grant Rudy an annulment of his first marriage on the grounds that Rudy didn't realize Regina Peruggi was his second cousin and since he failed to request a church dispensation before marrying her, that marriage was not valid in the eyes of the church. Placa actually managed to get Rudy the annulment at the end of 1983. The Catholic church works in strange, mysterious and secret ways. With annulment in hand, Rudy was now able to marry Donna Hanover in a Catholic ceremony at St. Monica's Church in New York on April 15, 1984. Without the annulment, he would not have been able to remarry in the Church. The Catholic church does not recognize divorce. They had two children, son Andrew and daughter Caroline. On Father's Day 1995, Rudy told reporters he was returning to Gracie Mansion to play ball with Andrew. He went instead to a basement suite in City Hall where he and his new mistress, Cristyne Lategano, had a romantic "encounter." Three hours later, Donna Hanover, furious, showed up at City Hall and attempted to enter the mayor's love nest suite but she was prevented from entering by a mayoral aide posted outside. Lategano was Rudy's communications director. When his relationship with her cooled, he found her another government job at $250,000 a year. Guliani met Judith Nathan in May 1999. Beginning in the summer of 1999, charges for Rudy's security detail on his visits to Nathan's condo in Southampton began showing up on obscure city agencies. Rudy's relationship with Nathan began a full year before it became public in May 2000. On May 3, 2000, Rudy referred to Judith Nathan as a "very good friend." Later that month a New York newspaper printed a story that Giuliani was having an extramarital affair with Nathan. Giuliani called a press conference and announced his intention to file for divorce from Hanover. He did not inform Hanover or their two children in advance. Giuliani and Nathan marched together at the head of the 2001 St. Patrick's Day Parade. Usually the mayor and his wife march in the parade. Giuliani even took Nathan to Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral while still married to Hanover. Giuliani married Nathan on May 24, 2003 at Gracie Mansion. Rudy now has a stepdaughter, Whitney. Rudy's two children, Andrew and Caroline, are estranged from their father. His daughter now uses the name Caroline Hanover. According to her Facebook page, she supports Barack Obama for president. Rudy is godfather to Bernie Kerik's two youngest children from his most recent marriage. Kerik has been married several times and has children from previous marriages and relationships. Kerik outdid Giuliani in that he managed to juggle two simultaneous extramarital affairs. Rudy's boyhood friend, Msgr. Alan Placa is now suspended from all priestly functions by the Catholic church. He now has a high paid job at Giuliani Partners. Msgr. Placa's name can be found on this list. Just keep scrolling down until you get to Placa. Placa was not prosecuted because the statute of limitations had run out on the alleged incidences of sexual molestation of teenage boys and young men. However, the charges were investigated by the Catholic church and he was suspended. That means he's finished as a priest. Placa is an attorney and a former vice chancellor of the Rockville Centre Diocese, where he was for years the diocese's chief contact with victims of clergy abuse. Rudy Giuliani is known for loyalty to his friends. Just ask Bernie Kerik and Alan Placa.

Re: They're off and running for the 2008 GOP nomination:
Even FoxSnooze is calling Huckabee on his ignorance and his lies!
Chris Wallace asked Mike Huckabee about his statement in 1992 calling for the isolation of all HIV-positive persons (several hundred thousand at the time). YouTube video clip. Huckabee, as usual, denies that he actually said that. Here's what he did say in 1992, some seven years after the CDC had already said that AIDS would not be spread by casual contact: "If the federal government is truly serious about doing something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plaque." Ronald Reagan, who was known for remaining silent on AIDS for years, finally came out in May 1987 with these comments: "As dangerous and deadly as AIDS is, many of the fears surrounding it are unfounded. These fears are based on ignorance. I was told of a newspaper photo of a baby in a hospital crib with a sign that said, 'AIDS -- Do Not Touch.' Fortunately, that photo was taken several years ago, and we now know there's no basis for this kind of fear. But similar incidents are still happening elsewhere in this country. I read of one man with AIDS who returned to work to find anonymous notes on his desk with such messages as, 'Don't use our water fountain.' I was told of a situation in Florida where 3 young brothers -- ages 10, 9, and 7 -- were all hemophiliacs carrying the AIDS virus. The pastor asked the entire family not to come back to their church. Ladies and gentlemen, this is old-fashioned fear, and it has no place in the home of the brave. "The Public Health Service has stated that there's no medical reason for barring a person with the virus from any routine school or work activity. There's no reason for those who carry the AIDS virus to wear a scarlet A. AIDS is not a casually contagious disease." If Huckabee was still confused about AIDS in 1992, all he had to do was ask Ronald Reagan. Five years before Huckabee made his ignorant comments about quarantining all HIV-positive persons in the United States, Reagan had refuted all of his ignorant claims.
