Republican "Family Values" have been a great help to the Democrats!

It's true! Those whacky Republicans with their multiple divorces and kinky sex habits have helped the Democrats regain control of both the House and the Senate. Republicans claiming to be the party of "family values" just adds to the attention they get when they screw up, or whatever. Like the Congressman in Pennsylvania who was accused of choking his mistress and the one in upstate New York who was accused of dragging his wife around the house by her hair -- after getting wasted with a bunch of college kids.

I'm sure Barack Obama appreciates Republican "family values." He had a strong GOP opponent in Jack Ryan until Ryan's ex-wife revealed that her husband forced her to attend numerous sex club events where she was forced to engage in sex acts with him and other men in front of a room full of strangers. It's Republican "family values" like that that helped the Democrats win seats.

So let's all give it up for good old Republican "family values." We need more Republicans like Mark Foley and David Vitter so that the Democrats can pick up more seats in 2008.

Florida Republican Rep. Bob Allen has issued a statement to clear up some misperceptions:

According to Allen's attorney:

(1) Bob Allen is not a racist. He's just easily intimidated by "black guys" in public parks. Besides Officer Danny, there was "nothing but other black guys around in the park," according to Allen. There were actually two other "black guys," both cops. I guess that qualifies as "nothing but."

(2) "Allen, who was unshaven and dressed in loose shorts and a knit shirt when arrested, came to Veterans Memorial Park because he was planning an event at the park :eek3: , said (Attorney) Eisenmenger, who didn't know the nature of the event." Well, let's see. What kind of "events" do you hold in public park restrooms?

(3) "Allen and the undercover officer left the bathroom after the legislator suggested they find a quiet place. On the way out, Allen asked whether the officer was a cop, and he replied, 'Nah, if I was a cop, why would I be hanging around here?' the report states." There, you see, the cop lied. Nothing to see here, folks. Why would Allen ask that question in the first place? Oh, right!

(4) "The two were walking to Allen's car, which had been left in a no-parking zone, when the officer showed his badge and arrested the lawmaker. Allen is set to be arraigned Aug. 23 in Titusville." Maybe the attorney hopes to have this case reduced to a parking citation.

I think there is a possibility the case may be dismissed but the damage has been done. Allen's attorney has now taken to arguing that since Officer Danny was the one who first suggested $20 for a certain sex act that he was the one who "did the soliciting." And poor little Bob Allen agreed only out of fear for his safety because Officer Danny is a "stocky black guy" and Allen is scared to death of "black guys." He also said it was because they were dressed in "street clothes." So now we know that "black guys," especially those "dressed in street clothes," are intimidating to Republican politicians. When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging! Morons!

9/11 workers outraged by new Rudy claim

Rudy Giuliani drew outrage and indignation from Sept. 11 first-responders yesterday by saying he spent as much time - or more - exposed to the site's dangers as workers who dug through the debris for the missing and the dead.

Speaking to reporters at a Cincinnati Reds ballgame he caught between fund-raisers, the GOP front-runner said he helped 9/11 families and defended himself against critics of how he managed the attack's aftermath.

"This is not a mayor or a governor or a President who's sitting in an ivory tower," Giuliani said. "I was at Ground Zero as often, if not more, than most of the workers. I was there working with them. I was exposed to exactly the same things they were exposed to. So in that sense, I'm one of them."

His statement rang false to Queens paramedic Marvin Bethea, who said he suffered a stroke, posttraumatic stress disorder and breathing problems after responding to the attacks.

"I personally find that very, very insulting," he said.

"Standing there doing a photo-op and telling the men, 'You're doing a good job,' I don't consider that to be working," said Bethea, 47.

Ironworker Jonathan Sferazo, 52, who said he spent a month at the site and is now disabled, runs a worker advocacy group with Bethea and called Giuliani's comments "severely" out of line.

"He's not one of us. He never has been and he never will be. He never served in a capacity where he was a responder," Sferazo said.

In the aftermath of the attacks, admirers dubbed Giuliani "America's Mayor," praising his leadership in the face of an unprecedented disaster. Detractors, including the International Association of Fire Fighters, which put out a scathing 13-minute video on his performance, suggested he profited politically and financially from the attacks.

"[Giuliani] is self-absorbed, arrogant and deluded," said IAFF spokesman Jeff Zack. (Yeah, and his own kids support Barack Obama!)

Mitt Romney says touring Iowa in a Winnebago is comparable to a tour of duty in Iraq!

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on Wednesday defended his five sons' decision not to enlist in the military, saying they're showing their support for the country by "helping me get elected."

Romney, who did not serve in Vietnam due to his Mormon missionary work and a high draft lottery number, was asked the question by an anti-war activist after a speech in which he called for "a surge of support" for U.S. forces in Iraq.

Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, also saluted a uniformed soldier in the crowd and called for donations to military support organizations. Last week, he donated $25,000 to seven such organizations.

"The good news is that we have a volunteer Army and that's the way we're going to keep it," Romney told some 200 people gathered in an abbey near the Mississippi River that had been converted into a hotel. "My sons are all adults and they've made decisions about their careers and they've chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard."

He added: "One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I'd be a great president."

P.S. -- The reason Romney's sons didn't enlist in the military is because they all have trust funds and didn't need "tuition aid." And besides, like Deputy Leader Dick, they had "other priorities." Mitt and his five sons support the war in Iraq and urge everyone else to enlist and fight them over there so that we don't have to fight them over here.

The reason Mitt was able to avoid military service in Vietnam was because he was either in college or in France for almost eleven years. He did a year in college before his obligatory 2-1/2 year Mormon missionary tour, and then another seven years of college after the conclusion of his extremely hazardous missionary work in Paris, France! Mitt chose Paris because as a 21-year-old multi-millionaire, he could afford the restaurants. And, besides, he wanted to brush up on his French in case he bumped into John Kerry over there. Kerry's maternal family (Forbes) owns a chateau in Normandy, where the young John spend many of his summers. So yes, dear readers, both Mitt Romney and John Kerry are fluent in French! Quelle horreurs!

Mitt's missionary tour in France was comparable to a tour of duty in Vietnam. In fact, he would have received the Purple Heart had he been in Vietnam. You see, Mitt was the driver of the car that collided head-on with another car, killing Mitt's front seat passenger and putting Mitt in the hospital for weeks. It was apparently the fault of the other driver. In Mitt's mind, his "service" in France was comparable to John McCain's service in Vietnam and his injuries were just as painful as McCain's.

Scumbags at the Republican National Committee are up to their old tricks again!

These creepy fearmongers think nothing of sending out completely false and misleading letters to citizens trying to scam contributions out of them.

Check out this letter that was recently received by an 83-year-old lifelong registered Democrat who has never registered as a Republican.

"Our records show that you registered as a member of our Party in Schuyler County, MO. But a recent audit of your Party affiliation turned up some irregularities.

"That's why I've enclosed your Republican Party Voter Verification/Audit Form, which I ask you to complete and return to me to today.

"You see, I'd like to set your record straight as soon as possible. If we don't, we risk Hillary Clinton as President with Bill Clinton as the power behind the throne."

The letter goes on and on about the dangers of a Democratic monarch on the throne and asks for a contribution to the RNC to ensure that King George will be succeeded by another Republican tyrant.

These people are beyond despicable! This is a mass mailing. It is not sent to just registered Republicans. The statement that a "recent audit of your Party affiliation turned up some irregularities" is a complete fabrication! It's a lie! Later in the letter they explain that the "irregularity" they are talking about is that they have no record of ever receiving a campaign contribution from you.

Notice that the Republican National Committee refers to the presidency as "the throne."

There are several ways they can use a mailing such as this. Besides pulling in some cash from scared and confused citizens, they can also track those who respond informing them that they have never registered as a Republican and add their names to a list of voters to be targeted for possible registraton challenges.

Conservatives do not really believe in Democracy and they never have. They're all monarchists at heart.

Mitt won! Mitt won! Mitt won!

Whew! The Mittster was getting a little worried there for awhile, but he managed to pull it off. After spending $5.7 million on the Ames, Iowa straw poll, Mitt managed to buy 4,516 votes, or 31% of the 14,204 total votes cast. The Iowa GOP was predicting a turnout of 40,000 but looks like all they could get was 14,204 in spite of all the freebies they offered.

Maybe the total would have been higher if they hadn't instituted the "purple thumb" rule this time? In the past, some voters voted more than once, so this time they made you dip your thumb in indelible purple ink when you voted. It does cost $35 to vote but that is often paid for by the candidate who is seeking your vote. In Mitt's case, he paid the $35 for anyone who promised to vote for him. He also paid to charter hundreds of buses to bring in voters, mainly from college campuses, and promised free food, free entertainment and hotel rooms for recuperation. It cost Mitt around $1,262 per vote. At that rate, I don't think he can afford to win the GOP nomination because he's only worth about $300 million.

Everyone had a great time, in spite of the disappointing turnout. One of the Diebold electronic voting machines malfunctioned, delaying the vote counting. That's something we can all look forward to next year.

Mike Huckabee finished second with 2,587 votes and Sam Brownback came in third with 2,192 votes. As you can see, Iowa is so representative of the nation as a whole. Not!

WALNUTS! McCain received 101 votes but he wasn't really trying and he didn't pay anyone's poll tax. How could he, he's out of money. Rudy Giuliani received 183 votes.

Somehow I think straw polls like this are so fitting for the Republican Party.

AMES, Iowa–A top fund-raiser for Mitt Romney who was indicted this week in Maryland on a $32 million fraud scheme has resigned from his position with the campaign as a national finance committee co-chair, a spokesman for Mr. Romney said.

A federal grand jury in Maryland unsealed its 23-count indictment of the fund-raiser, Alan B. Fabian, 43, on Thursday for money laundering, mail fraud, bankruptcy fraud, perjury and obstruction of justice.

What's up with the GOP candidates? Did anyone drop out yet?

Gov. Tommy Thompson has withdrawn from the race. Finally! He had said last week that if he didn't finish second in the Iowa straw poll, he would be forced to give up his campaign for the presidency and focus all of his efforts on getting the rest of us to have microchip implants so that his stock options will go up in value.

Gov. Mike Huckabee (aka Rev. Mike Huckabee) came in second with 2,587 votes. The Huckster now thinks he's a frontrunner!

Just think how hilarious it would be if Mike Huckabee actually made it to the White House. If you thought brother Billy was an embarrassment to Jimmy Carter, you ain't seen nothin' yet. If Huckabee gets to be president, his son David will be in the news constantly.

You might remember the little Huckster from a couple months back when he was arrested trying to board a plane with a loaded 40-caliber Glock in his carry-on luggage. His dad said it was a foolish mistake. No kidding!



That's the little Huckster in the lavendar feather boa during his days at Arkansas State University. That's his happy dad, Baptist Minister and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee in the inset. David is 26 now.

More than $5,000 of the Student Activities Board budget was spent for services provided by two companies operated by a student leader.

H & K Enterprises and Pyro-Erectus, owned by Union Advisory Board President David Huckabee, have provided the SAB with services ranging from providing promotional pens and concessions to building and lighting the Homecoming bonfire.

College was a profitable learning experience for little David. He did end up having to pay for a couple of business licenses for those two companies he set up to make money off the other students. He paid for the licenses with 6,000 pennies! Such a jokester that little Huckster!

Yes, siree, little David has always enjoyed a good joke. Back in 1998, when he was a boy scout counselor (before they fired him), he and another kid played a joke with a stray dog at camp. That was when his dad was governor of the state. Tell me again about GOP family values. And in this case, his father was not only a prominent Republican politician but also a fundamentalist Christian minister. Hanging a dog by it's neck sounds like cruelty to animals to me but the stoning it to death part is so biblical. He must have learned that in Bible class.

TALLAHASSEE - State Rep. Bob Allen was removed from his committee assignments today by House Speaker Marco Rubio, who said his fellow Republican can no longer effectively represent his constituents while he faces a prostitution charge.

P.S. -- Hey, wait just a minute here. What about "innocent until proven guilty?" What about the fact that Allen's lawyer said he will prove in court that it was Officer Danny who "did the soliciting" and the only reason Bob Allen went along with the suggestion was because he is scared to death of "black guys," especially if they are wearing "street clothes."

P.P.S. -- Speaking to a reporter today, Rep. Allen compared Speaker Rubio to Fidel Castro. Rubio is a Cuban-American. Maybe Allen can get 'Carlito' Crist is intervene?

It looks like both the Democrats and the Republicans in Michigan have agreed to move their state's primaries to January 15.

That would force New Hampshire to move up to January 8, if they want to maintain their current status as second in the nation. It also means that Iowa would be forced into December 2007, unless they want to give up on the idea of holding their quaint caucuses before any normal state.

I think the Iowa system is a joke anyway. It belongs in the 19th century.

I guess Michigan figured that if Florida could get away with moving up to January 29, then they may as well go ahead and move up to January 15.

P.S. -- It's COLD in Michigan in December and January! Maybe the candidates will talk the Governator into moving California's primaries into December so that they can ignore Michigan?

He doesn't want to participate in the New Hampshire debates but his campaign will be running a 30-second spot that will appear just before the debates begin.

Something else that someone in the know pointed out is the possibility that by taking the maximum amount of time allowed by law, he won't have to file any statements with the FEC until January 2008.

Personally, I think he has waited too long already. It will be interesting to see what happens after he officially enters the race. I don't think he has a chance but then again I didn't think Rudy Giuliani had a chance in hell of winning the Republican nomination and he's still the frontrunner.

The Republicans are conflicted this cycle because their leading candidates are not the sort of people they claim to admire. Only one of them, Mitt Romney, is still married to his first wife but Mitt's problem is that he has conveniently reversed his position on all the typical GOP social issues just in time for his presidential campaign. Some positions that he held as recently as 2004 have been abandoned in his quest for the presidency. He now holds positions on stem-cell research, abortion, gun control, gay rights, immigration reform and a number of other hot button GOP issues that are almost the exact opposite of his previous positions. And then there's the little matter of his Mormon religion and heritage, that is definitely a problem for some of the fundies on the right.

Rudy Giuliani is pro-gun control, pro-gay rights, pro-abortion and likes to appear in public in drag. He divorced had his marriage to his first wife annulled after 14 years when he discovered that they were second cousins and he neglected to ask the Archbishop for permission in advance. I didn't even know you were supposed to get permission to marry your second cousin in the Catholic church but evidently you are, or at least you were required to do so back when Rudy was first married. So, like Henry VIII, Rudy was forced by his conscience to abandon his first wife.

Rudy's second wife, Donna Hanover, was treated incredibly poorly by Rudy. His treatment of her during his notoriously open extramarital affairs was extremely shabby and announcing his decision to divorce her on national TV without having informed her in advance was really low. No wonder his children hate his guts. The most telling anecdote from those years is the story that Rudy refused to allow Donna's parents to stay overnight at Gracie Mansion when they visited New York. The judge, during the divorce and custody arrangements, ordered that Rudy's children would not be allowed to visit him if Judi (his new paramour) was in the building. This is a man who showed up arm in arm with his mistress at High Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral while he was still married to his second wife. Remember that in the eyes of the church (extremely old, medieval eyes), his first marriage was now null and void just as if it never existed but his second marriage was still in full force. And his third marriage is not recognized by his church because you're not allowed to remarry after a divorce as long as your ex- is still living.

So Rudy is an enigma. I have no idea what the GOP primary voters see in him to tell you the truth. Knowing their claimed "values," I'm shocked that he's leading the pack at this point.

As far as John McCain is concerned. The GOPers should have nominated him in 2000 when he was still sane. He's now too old (even older than me) and he has tied himself too closely to Bush's failed Iraq war policies. The "surge" was McCain's idea before Bush adopted it. McCain is now running sympathy spots on TV that show him during his incarceration by the North Vietnamese. That's a clever tactic to employ against his leading adversaries. McCain's greatest strength is that he is a genuine American hero. Mitt would have been happy to do his part for his country but his religion required him to spend 30 months in Paris while McCain was staying at the Hanoi Hilton. And then, after his difficult and hazardous missionary duty in Paris, Mitt had to return to college to finish his education, which took another seven years. And yes, Mitt's missionary work is Paris was extremely hazardous, he was almost killed in a car accident. In fact, his front seat passenger was killed but 21-yr-old Mitt, the driver of the car, was only seriously injured.

McCain should plant a French reporter in the audience to ask Mitt a question in French just to see if Mitt pretends to ignore him or actually responds. Revealing the fact that he is completely fluent in French is not something that will go over well with certain elements on the right-wing of the Republican Party, the ones who invented Freedom Fries.

McCain has the problem of ditching his first wife for a wealthy, much younger socialite but he has apologized for his treatment of his first wife and admitted that the divorce was all his fault. And that was a long time ago, even longer than his Keating Five problem, which was really caused by his father-in-law. And McCain gets bonus points for adopting an orphan.

"Hollywood" Fred, on the other hand, has children from his second wife who are younger than some of his grandchildren from his first marriage. In fact, his children from his first marriage are older than his second wife. That's because Fred got started early. He was only 17 when he married the first time. It was a shotgun wedding. But Fred has a lot of experience acting presidential, so you never can tell what might happen. Maybe he can fool enough people into thinking he's really presidential material? Dubya did it, so that proves it can't be all that difficult.

From the Miami Herald: Giuliani event aide quits over sex, theft charges

TALLAHASSEE -- An organizer for a Rudy Giuliani presidential event plans to step down amid revelations of his arrests for allegedly extorting an FSU student in a sex case and his conviction for dealing in stolen state computers.

Barry S. Edwards, 45, told The Miami Herald that the charges against him were ''old news'' --- and were 'unfounded' in the student sex case -- but he nevertheless thought it would be best to withdraw from the Pinellas County Republican Party fundraiser because ``I'm not relevant and I shouldn't be the story.''

According to a Florida State University arrest affidavit: Edwards was first charged after a 19-year-old FSU political science intern claimed Edwards, then an adjunct professor, plied him with beers, trolled briefly for prostitutes, watched ''heterosexual'' pornography and then exhorted him to masturbate in a game.

The intern said Edwards threatened him with bad grades if he didn't ''get into it.'' He declined to press charges. Edwards said the claims were ''lies'' but he didn't ''want to revisit it.'' Edwards was fired from FSU.

Shortly after his extortion arrest, state Capitol police then arrested Edwards on charges of theft, burglary and dealing with stolen property after the cops said he stole at least $10,000 worth of computer equipment from offices of the Florida Legislature.

Speaking of Republicans: You sure don't want to mess with Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colorado)!

A couple of Mr. Lamborn's constituents, wrote a letter to the editor of their local paper complaining about Mr. Lamborn voting against stricter dogfighting laws. They identified themselves as conservative Republicans and pointed out in their letter that Lamborn had accepted contributions from the gambling industry.

That didn't sit too well with Congressman Lamborn, who left two threatening messages on their home telephone:


The following is a text of two voice messages that Rep. Doug Lamborn left on the home telephone of Jonathan and Anna Bartha.

FIRST MESSAGE: "Hello, this is Doug Lamborn calling for either Jonathan or Anna. Something very serious has happened. There was a letter to the editor that you both put in your names to the editor of the Woodmen Edition and there is something that is blatantly false in that letter.

"I would like to get together with you and show this to you and appeal to you as a brother and sister in Christ. You didn't give me that opportunity but I am happy to overlook that and deal with you on that level because I think that is the right thing to do and show you where you made a blatant, wrong statement.

"Now there are consequences to this kind of thing, but I would like to work with you in a way that is best for everyone here concerned. So please call me at your earliest convenience. It is now 2:40 (p.m.) on Saturday afternoon.

SECOND MESSAGE: "Hello, this is Doug Lamborn again, I'm finishing up my message from a moment ago. I got cut off. It is critical that you get back to me as soon as possible on this because I'll be going back to Washington here in a few days and I have to make sure that this is resolved one way or another. And like I said I'd rather resolve this on a Scriptural level but if you are unwilling to do that I will be forced to take other steps, which I would rather not have to do. So please call me. This is essential. Call me by tonight, Saturday night and we can get together sometime Sunday afternoon."

P.S. -- The "brother and sister in Christ" bit is because Jonathan Bartha is employed by Daddy Dobson's Focus on the Family.

The Barthas' letter criticized Lamborn for allegedly accepting $1,500 in campaign contributions from the gambling industry. Federal records confirm the donations were accepted, but Lamborn said he returned them. He did not say when and The Post said there is no federal record of them being returned.

Republicans are starting to worry that they could not only lose the White House but also lose ground in both the House and the Senate in 2008.

Top Ten Reasons Conservative Christians Might NOT Vote for Rudy Giuliani:

10. Failed to provide working radios for Fire Department even after 1993 World Trade Center bombing proved they couldn't communicate with other departments, like the police for instance.

9. Insisted on locating new emergency command center in World Trade Center even after being warned that was a terrible idea by ALL of his department heads. (It was closer to his office and he used it for romantic encounters.)

8. After 14 years of marriage to Regina Peruggi, convinced Catholic church that he didn't realize she was his second cousin and therefore the marriage must be annulled. This was an outrageous act that reflects badly on both Giuliani and the Catholic church. Reminds me of the 16th century.

7. Flip-flopping on abortion. He's on YouTube announcing his support for public funding of abortions. He once said that abortions should not only be legal, but they should be publicly funded. And he's a contributor to Planned Parenthood, as is Mitt Romney's wife.

6. Marched in all of New York City's Gay Pride parades and held Gay Pride receptions at Gracie Mansion for his many, many, many gay friends. Even more gay friends than Ed Koch, who's actually gay.

5. Bernie Kerik.

4. Disrespected his second wife, Donna Hanover, and their two children by parading his marital infidelity publicly. His adultery was "open and notorious." No wonder his daughter's voting for Obama.
