Anyone well versed in the law??
I am faced with the possibility that I will be filing a lawsuit in the state of NC. I now live in AL. It will concern some inspections done on a house that I own there
. How do I go about filing a lawsuit? This is all new to me. The suit will be in the $7500 to $10,000 range. Thanks, Ryan

Ryan,
This is not legal advice. If you're interested in procedure, you should contact the Clerk of the Court for the county in which the real estate is located. The Clerk's Office should be able to provide you with the local rules of procedure. Contact through a website might be possible, but you may need to pick up the phone. It would be worth your while to speak with an attorney who practices real estate in that circuit, particularly with $7,500-$10,000 on the line. I recommend you do so, even if only to determine the likelihood of your success. Be up front about the limit you would be willing to spend on fees and costs and provide the attorney with a concise version of events and any documentation. The North Carolina Bar Association has a lawyer referral service. Call(800) 662-7660. If you're curious, hit this link: http://www.barlinc.org/public/lrs/info2.asp In any event, I wish you luck and a speedy resolution of the problem. Seabean You're welcome. ![]()

My dads got some joke againts him, some shmuck said something that his whole department had knowledge of some thing against the government or something like that, I think it was knowledge of a escapee... Which is complete BS! The suit they are filing is $1000 for every officer or something like that... They are doing this to people who are barely living financially! So, i think i know what you are talking about! Good luck!

I am talking about suing someone else. Not being sued. These people will pay. Iwill either sue or destroy their business. I have not decided yet.

Pretty much it, They made it into a big operation too! They have a satellite truck on the island! This supposedly happenned in '95... I dont know the whole story, so I'll end it there, but it is kinda scary! My dad just got off the phone with a couple of people, and they are all telling him different stories! Paranoia, USA, huh?
