My first car was also a 72 beetle. My father and I did a full body off restoration on it before it was taken out by a drunk driver. We bought a 74 super beetle and restored it too. We paid $100 for it and sold it for $4000 in 1996. When I was forced to drive the car I hated it, but I kind of miss it now. We rented a 1999 old beetle (still being made) in Mexico in January and it brought back a lot of memories. I might have to try to find another one to restore.

I own a 2001 New Beetle, bright yellow 5 speed. Love it!

I keep trying to talk my wife into getting a new one so we can have the "now and then" thing going on. She says it's either upgrade to a bigger tank this summer, or get a new bug. No contest. My fishies need the room more than I do!!!!!!!!
