Monterey Bay Aquarium's male great white sends greetings from Cabo...

The young male great white shark that the Monterey Bay Aquarium released on January 16, 2007 has just sent us greetings from Cabo San Lucas.

I missed that one by two days on my trip to California in January but I did get to see the female that they kept for six months. The Monterey Bay Aquarium keeps adding new exhibits, so it's always a fun place to take kids. They have only one very tiny coral reef exhibit but that's because their emphasis in on Monterey Bay. The new Steinhart Aquarium at the new California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park will have a very nice coral reef exhibit when it opens in June 2008. (P.S. -- Oops! I just noticed on their website that they have pushed back the scheduled opening date to "late 2008.")

P.S. -- One of these days I'm going to visit the new Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.
