You're right, Christians don't tend to act that way (anymore) and that's a good thing.

Anyway, the Westboro Baptist Church hardly represents Christianity in America. And is offensive and an embaressment to the rest of us believers.
Rev. Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church may not be representative of Christianity but they sure put out some hilarious videos.

In this new clip, Rev. Phelps comments on Mary Cheney's new baby. He is so off-the-wall crazy, he's hilarious! Of course he's an ignorant Nazi, but that's what makes him so funny.

Irvine,

I guess it’s 'cause Christians don’t threaten to 'behead the infidels'!”

Also they no longer have the power to do so.

When the separation of church and state is sufficiently abridged any religion tends to devolve into a fascist theocracy, even Christianity.

Just ask an “infidel” living in Christian Europe a few hundred years ago.

Regards,

Scott

What was it Bishop Jacques Fournier used to say to the Jews? Oh, yeah, now I remember: "Convert or die!"

Bishop Fournier did such a good job as a Holy Inquisitor that he eventually became Pope Benedict XII.

P.S. -- Popes Benedict XI - XVI are incorrectly numbered since Benedict X is officially an antipope. That means that officially, they are the tenth through fifteenth popes by that name. The current Pope Benedict XVI took his name in honor of Pope Benedict XV, who reigned during World War I.

This numbering assumes that the deposition of Pope John XII was invalid. If the deposition was valid, then Pope Benedict V was an antipope. Most church historians now consider the deposition of John XII to be invalid, which means that Leo VIII was an antipope. Right now the church lists John XII, Leo VIII and Benedict V as legitimate popes, which is impossible. You can have two legitimate popes simultaneously. There is no question that John XII deserved to be deposed but the church much later on declared that no pope can be deposed for any reason whatsoever, making the deposition of John XII retroactively invalid.

Rev. Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist flock will be taking their show on the road again...

The funerals for the victims of the bridge collapse in Minnesota will be attended by Rev. Phelps and his merry band of Bible-quoting lunatics. According to an official spokesperson for Westboro Baptist Church, "God hates Minnesota, land of the Sodomite damned."

And if the coal miners in Utah don't make it out alive, I'm sure Utah will be the next stop on the tour.
