The 133rd Kentucky Derby

Who's watching the Kentucky Derby today, and who is your pick?

Re: The 133rd Kentucky Derby

OK, I just turned the TV back on. I had turned it off because I was upset over the Sharks blowing game 5 to the Red Wings!

Looks like they're entering the gate now.

The Sharks didn't blow it, the Wings man-handled them! Well okay, the Datsyuk (or however you spell it) goal was a total break down by an otherwise impressive goalie!

Wings in 7!!!!

Nabby made a mistake and it cost him. That was a very disheartening goal but all it did was tie the game at 1-1. Then, after Detroit scored another goal shortly after that one, it just seemed like the Sharks fell apart.

They shouldn't have lost the previous game in O.T. If they had won that game, they wouldn't be in this fix right now. We'll see. They might still pull it out.

Do you remember several years back when the Red Wings lost to the Sharks in the first round? IIRC, that was in seven games. The Sharks were heavy underdogs then.

I would just love to see them get past the second round.

Re: The 133rd Kentucky Derby

I remember the Sharks beating the Wings as an expansion team! Of course that was MANY years ago. I want the wings to do well this year, as this is a transitional year, the first of the "new" Wings, like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and company. Chelios and Draper are now the OLD men!

Yes, I guess it was more than "several" years ago because I was living in the Bay Area then. It was sort of our Miracle on Ice moment.

P.S. -- Speaking of miracles, what's up with Golden State this year? I haven't followed them in ages and all of a sudden they have a decent team. I had switched to following the Kings but then I got mad when they gave up Peja Stoyakovic.

Well, I was in 8th grade when that happened George.... So it was more then several.

I have nothing to say about Golden State, except even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.... The squirrel happened to find 4!!!

Re: The 133rd Kentucky Derby

I wanted Street Sense! It would be nice to have a Tripple Crown winner!! Affirmed was in like 78 or 79, right??

Now the Belmont will be pretty anticlimactic.
