Arrow Bush Administration trying to restrict who can testify before Congress:

This congressional oversight stuff is getting out of hand, especially all those congressional investigations into the Civil War in Iraq. Now that the Democrats are in charge of both the House and the Senate, they think they have a right to ask what's going on. Well, that's fine, but from now on they will only be allowed to talk to "high-ranking officers and civilians appointed by the president."

We simply cannot allow career professionals who are not loyal Bushies to be interrogated by the Congess. Who knows what they might reveal? It could hurt our troops and help the terrorists! Or, worse still, help Democratic candidates in the next election. And we all know that a vote for the Democrats is a vote for the terrorists! Deputy Leader Dick said so.

And from now on, no active-duty military personnel below the rank of colonel will be allowed to answer any questions at all. We can't have battalion commanders and company comanders, or, heaven forbid, enlisted personnel, telling these nosy investigators what's really going on.

Home of the Free and Land of the Brave, just not quite as free and definitely not as brave as before!

Money quote: "Both Democrats and Republicans in Congress see the move as a blatant attempt to limit information and bog down investigations of the Iraq war."

These are the sort of people the Bush Administration desperately wants to shut up!

Watch that 4-1/2 minute video! That's the sort of stuff the Cheney-Bush Administraton wants to keep quiet. They don't want our troops talking about what's really going on in Iraq.

No matter how bad it is, it could be worse. Just think how bad things would be over here if we had an official secrets act like you have in the U.K.

By the way, congratulations on the retirement of your neo-con PM posing as a Labourite. I was beginning to think he would never leave voluntarily.
