The
Wyoming Republican Party is looking for someone to fill the seat vacated by the late Senator Craig Thomas. Wyoming law requires that Governor Dave Freudenthal select a Republican to fill the vacated U.S. Senate seat until the 2008 elections. The Wyoming Republican Party will submit a list of three names for Governor Freudenthal's consideration. Governor Freudenthal must choose one of those three as the new U.S. Senator from Wyoming.
Would you like to be the next U.S. Senator from Wyoming? If so, please fill out the application and submit it to the Wyoming Republican Party no later than Thursday, June 14, 2007.
Application to be a U.S. Senator
What's that? You don't think you're qualified to be a United States Senator? Not to worry, if your name gets on the list, you would have an excellent shot at being chosen by Governor Freudenthal. Since the governor is a Democrat, he won't necessarily be interested in selecting the most qualified of the three people recommended by the GOP. In fact, Gov. Freudenthal just might be thinking of running for the Senate himself in 2008, in which case the weakest GOP candidate would be the most likely of the three to be selected by the governor to keep the seat warm until January 2009.
You think you could beat Gov. Freudenthal if he decides to run for the Senate in 2008? Really? Because Wyoming's a red state? Really? Has anyone mentioned that the governor is extremely popular and won reelection with more than 70% of the vote the last time around?
Poor Wyoming GOP. They must be more desperate than I thought. Could it be that the better candidates aren't interested in this temporary assignment?
P.S. -- I wonder if they listed it on Craigslist?
