Re: Appalachian State?
Heisman Trophy candidates to be announced at 6 p.m. EST tonight.
The names of the five Heisman Trophy finalists who will be invited to New York for the presentation Saturday will be announced on ESPN at 6 p.m. EST this evening. However, I just googled "Heisman Trophy" and discovered that the invitations were transmitted to the various head coaches All four of the names that I suggested earlier in this thread are on the list. I haven't been able to find confirmation of the fifth name yet. The four that I know for sure have been invited to the ceremony: Tim Tebow - Florida Darren McFadden - Arkansas Colt Brennan - Hawaii Chase Daniel - Missouri P.S. -- I think it will be very close but I think Tebow will win and McFadden will be second again. When I was googling for this a little while ago, I ended up on a Missouri newspaper's website and they had one of those cute little reader polls where you get to vote for your favorite candidate. I voted for Tebow but, as you might expect, Chase Daniel was getting about 75% of the votes on that site.

Re: Appalachian State?
Quote:
2) Darren McFadden 3) Colt Brennan 4) Chase Daniel It really wasn't even close in spite of what they said on teevee. Tebow received 462 first-place votes to McFadden's 291 first-place votes. He had 1,957 points to McFadden's 1,703 points. That's because he was second on most of McFadden's first-place ballots and McFadden was second on most of Tebow's first-place ballots. Brennan received 54 first-place votes, 632 points. Daniel got 25 first-place votes, 425 points. So now when Mike watches Michigan play in the Capital One Bowl, he gets to see the Heisman Trophy Winner at no extra charge. ![]()

Re: Appalachian State?
Oops!
Patriots 34, Steelers 13. NE: Tom Brady 32/46 399 yds 4 TD A couple of days ago, Steelers' safety Anthony Smith guaranteed a victory over New England. Not only did the Patriots defeat the Steelers, they rubbed it in for good measure. Smith was burned on both long touchdown passes. Just before the 2-minute warning at the end of the game, the fans began chanting "Guarantee!" to mock Smith, whose picture was shown on the scoreboard. Never let your mouth write checks your ass can't cash.

Re: Appalachian State?
I got to watch Brett destroy the Raiders but I kept flipping back and forth to the Cowboys-Lions game. Romo came through at the end to pull off a one-point victory.
Then I got to watch the Patriots-Steelers game. Right now I'm watching the Colts-Ravens game, which is beginning to look like another blowout. The Ravens are still upset over blowing the game against the Patriots last week.

Re: Appalachian State?
I guess you're asking if Brady will complete 50 TD passes this season and the answer is YES!
Oops! Wait a minute. You said Indy? Not the Patriots. OK, I'm confused. What are you asking? P.S. -- Nevermind! You're asking if Indy will go over 50 points right now. YES!!! ![]()

Re: Appalachian State?
Yeah, but they're playing the practice squad right now and when we get down to the two-minute warning, they're going to play the cheerleaders.
The Ravens are roadkill.

Re: Appalachian State?
The Ravens sent in Troy Smith. The Colts are getting ready to send in their cheerleaders.

Re: Appalachian State?
At least one Raven's happy tonight: Troy Smith got his first NFL TD. And Madden is saying they should pull Kyle Boller and start Troy Smith the rest of the year.

Re: Appalachian State?
WTH? (What the heck?)
LSU coach Les Miles tried his best to quell the Michigan rumors. So much for that. Miles had a phone conversation Friday morning with Michigan athletic director Bill Martin and school president Mary Sue Coleman, the Detroit Free Press reported on its Web site Monday night, citing "several people with knowledge of the call." LSU athletic director Skip Bertman told the Free Press that he didn't know if Miles had contact with Michigan, but was skeptical that Miles could be persuaded to leave. "He and Bo Schembechler were real close," Bertman told the newspaper. "If Bo Schembechler were alive I doubt he could have got him to go to Michigan. It's hard for people who don't live in the South to understand." Miles played and coached under Schembechler at Michigan. On Thursday, Miles seemed to put the Michigan talk behind him when he signed a contract extension to stay at LSU through 2012. "I'm thrilled to be here. I'm thrilled to be LSU's head coach. I'm thrilled to be on the campus," Miles told the LSU Board of Supervisors before signing the deal. "I look forward to many years as the LSU head coach." The contract doesn't change Miles' salary, which already will rise to at least $2.8 million annually based on LSU's Southeastern Conference championship this year. An SEC championship win requires Miles' salary to be at least the third highest in the conference. Also remaining unchanged is the $1.25 million penalty Miles must pay to LSU if he leaves for Michigan, a contract clause that college football fans became well acquainted with after Wolverines coach Lloyd Carr announced his retirement in November. LSU officials praised Miles' coaching, his straightforwardness and his integrity. "He told the people in this room he wasn't going to Michigan, and he never was. He never leveraged it," LSU Athletic Director Skip Bertman said.
