Some people think so. They definitely looked good against the Hokies and they looked good against Mississippi State, especially in the second half.

Their quarterback, Matt Flynn, is virtually unknown because he was in the shadow of JaMarcus Russell for so long. Looks like he's not bad.

If you base rankings on what has actually taken place on the field so far, then LSU is undoubtably the No. 1 team in the nation at this point. If you base rankings on perceived reputation, then you could say USC is the No. 1 team. USC was off this week. LSU has two victories so far, 45-0 over Mississippi State and 48-7 over #9 Virginia Tech. That's pretty impressive. And yes, they destroyed Virginia Tech. I think the total yardage was something like 586 598 to 116. I'll go look it and up post the exact figures. (I corrected the figures.)

They don't have another serious challenge until they play Florida. Their next games are against Middle Tennessee State and South Carolina -- both of those games should be easy.

Well, they should beat both of those teams, but look what has happened so far this year. I think South Carolina won yesterday, didn't they? We both know what happens to "good" football teams when they start to overlook the lesser teams.

I think South Carolina is 2-0 so far.

Mike the tiger? They have a new one. I think he's Mike No. 6 or something.

    Smart ass!

Mike VI was officially named Mike VI yesterday, according LSU Athletics. He has a $3 million, 15,000 sq. ft. enclosure with his own swimming pool. PETA is against LSU keeping a tiger as a mascot.

Speaking of Wolverines, should someone call Poseidon to make sure he hasn't thrown himself in front of train or anything?

Hey, I am a Cubs fan, I know what abuse is all about. I am glad there are teams out there taking the heat off my Cubbies, be it football or whatever.

Pictures of LSU's brand new mascot, Mike VI enjoying his pool.

Pictures of the new tiger compound that opened in August 2005. The building part is air-conditioned and the outside area is spacious and comes with a waterfall, stream and pool. The pool area is at the end of the stream.

Probably donations. They have to pay their coaches a fortune.

Oh, the one with the good hands in the playoff series against the Marlins? I think he HAD to move out of Chicago. I am not certain, but I know he wasn't treated very well by the local media, not to mention his neighbors. I heard that he moved, but have no idea where.

Entirely possible. It wouldn't have been so bad, but I think one of the local newspapers released his home address. It was all downhill after that.

Well, at least there was a lot of action. I got my hopes up when it was 38-35 but then they were dashed. Oh, well...

Looks to me like both defences could use a little help!!!! I went to bed and it was 38-28, so looks like I missed a fairly good 4th quarter
