As Dandy Don Meredith used to say, turn out the lights, the party's over! Dallas is toast now.

They assign power rankings to all the teams you played, the ones you beat and the ones you lost to and the computer comes up with a numerical score. The computer looked at all of LSU's games and all of Kentucky's games and decided that LSU was better than Kentucky. That's why Hawaii is way down at number 18 in spite of being undefeated and setting all sorts of NCAA records. The teams they beat don't have very strong power rankings. In fact, the computers have South Florida ranked No. 1 and LSU ranked No. 2. Then when you average the computer ranking with the Harris Poll and the Coaches Poll, you end up with the BCS ranking. Look at how low they placed USC and they have only one loss and they started the season looking unbeatable. They haven't looked nearly as hot lately though. Michigan has looked great lately but they can't live down those first two losses. Appalachian State could have been a fluke but then they were destroyed by Oregon the following week. USC suffered in the rankings because they lost to Stanford, although by only one point. That was almost, by not quite, as bad as Michigan losing to Appalachian State. BCS 1. Ohio State 2. South Florida 3. Boston College 4. LSU 5. Oklahoma 6. South Carolina 7. Kentucky 8. Arizona State 9. West Virginia 10. Oregon 11. Virginia Tech 12. California 13. Kansas 14. USC 15. Florida 18. Hawaii 25. Michigan

Re: Appalachian State?
48-27
We won't hear a peep out of T.O. all week. Dallas fans should ask him for a refund on their popcorn. He posted a gigantic message on his locker telling people to get their popcorn ready. ![]() P.S. -- Just for the record, in case somebody reads this weeks from now, New England beat Dallas 48-27.

I think you'll hear more from TO than anybody gambled for. He will say something rather ignorant and/or stupid. JMHO

Then there was the sharpie incident and giving the autographed ball to the agent of the guy he burned, who happens to be his agent, too. And even more recently, there was the little skit where he mocked New England by pretending to be taking video from the end zone. That made Roger Goodell happy. When he was in San Francisco, he drove the coaches crazy and he drove the fans crazy. In 2001 the 49ers went 12-4 but they lost to Green Bay in a wildcard game. T.O. bad-mouthed Jeff Garcia and Steve Mariucci all season long. Every loss was because they didn't get the ball to him enough and he blamed that on Garcia and Mariucci. His "personality" didn't go down well in San Francisco. His little war dance on the Dallas star during that 49ers-Cowboys game was totally uncalled for and an embarrassment. I was a little surprised when he ended up in Dallas but his personality fits right in with the fans there. They deserve each other. ![]() P.S. -- The 49ers drafted T.O. in the third round. Can you imagine how impossible he would have been to live with had he been drafted in the top five or anywhere in the first round? It's not that he doesn't have talent, it's just that he's unbearable and disruptive. He can't keep his mouth shut. He's constantly mouthing off about his teammates and the coaching staff to the press.

Re: Appalachian State?
I was watching one of the pre game shows this AM, and one of the questions was which one do you want on your team, Moss or Owens. It was unanimous, Moss. He is just the better receiver, period. Owens gets those alligator arms when he is in traffic too!!!

Re: Appalachian State?
I just got finished watching the last hour and a half of the Nevada - Boise State game. Boy, that bright royal blue field is hard on the eyes.
Anyway, it went into 4 overtimes. Final score 69-67 Boise State over Nevada. It was 44-44 at the end of regulation. Nevada was QB'd by a redshirt freshman. The college overtimes are getting out of hand. It's really dumb to include the statistics from the OTs as part of the game. They should just say 44-44, Nevada wins in OT. Why count all the yards and TDs, etc., from the OTs as part of the game statistics? It distorts everything. I wonder what's the record for college OTs under the new system? Is there ever a cutoff point where they just call it quits and say it's a tie? Or flip a coin or something? What happens if you get into 7 OTs and both teams end up with 80-something points? Goofy!

Re: Appalachian State?
Yeah, I watched that too. I think it was Arkansas that went into 7 OT here about 4-5 years ago, I may be wrong on that. The stats are just like extra innings I guess, and those stats count. College stats don't mean jack as far as I am concerned. How many QB's drafted #1 really make it big in the NFL.

Re: Appalachian State?
Tell me about it!!!
The Niners had much better luck with their third round No. 82 pick (Joe Montana) than any of their first round QB picks. They did have pretty good luck with a first round No. 16 pick but he wasn't a QB (Jerry Rice). They haven't had a decent QB since Steve Young. And one of their first round QB picks was a complete washout --Jim Druckenmiller. Their current QB, Alex Smith, was the overall No. 1 pick two years ago and they gave him a 6-year $49 million contract. Let's just say that he's a work in progress, hopefully! P.S. -- And when I was living in the Bay Area, the Warriors passed on Kobe Bryant because they said he was too young! Kobe was only 17 at the time, going straight from high school to the NBA. (P.S. -- I just looked it up and it looks like a dozen teams passed on Kobe. He went No. 13 in the 1996 draft to the Charlotte Hornets. He immediately informed the Hornets that he didn't want to play for them, he wanted to play for the Lakers. So the Lakers traded for him. Anyway, back in 1996, a lot of people in the Bay Area wanted the Warriors to take Kobe even if he was only 17.)

Going Problem
Somebody in the bar must have yelled out, "Go, Bears!," and Baylor's offensive line coach, Eric Schnupp, did exactly that. On the bar! ![]() P.S. -- I didn't think Baptists were even allowed to go to bars?

Re: Appalachian State?
Now what!?!
South Florida lost to Rutgers! The computers had South Florida ranked No. 1 and LSU No. 2, which is why LSU ended up at No. 4 in the BCS rankings in spite of being fifth in both the Harris Poll and the Coaches Poll. P.S. -- I just looked at Ohio State's schedule. They could easily lose at least one of their last three games, as I'm sure Poseidon will agree with me. ![]() And Boston College might lose next Thursday to Virginia Tech.

Re: Appalachian State?
Damn! Virginia Tech almost knocked off BC. It was 10-0 going into the final 2:11. Then BC scored twice to pull off a 14-10 win and remain unbeaten.
LSU is off this week. Too bad Virginia Tech didn't knock BC out of that No. 2 spot.

Re: Appalachian State?
Upsets so far:
No. 9 Florida lost to No. 20 Georgia, 42-30. No. 11 South Florida lost to Connecticut, 22-15. No. 14 Kentucky lost to Mississippi State, 31-14. LSU is off this week. Their backup QB Ryan Perrilloux got in trouble with the law again. He was involved in a 20-man brawl outside a bar at 2:00 a.m. Friday. It reportedly involved the club's bouncers evicting a group of people and then some of those people getting bent out of shape over it. Guns may have been involved. It's not being reported yet in the press but it's in the blogs. He might be benched. He's had two other run-ins with the law in the past year. P.S. -- I just checked Perrilloux's Wikipedia page and found this: "On October 25, 2007, Perrilloux, team mate Derrick Odom and others were involved in a fight at a Baton Rouge nightclub. Legal charges are pending against Perrilloux and Odom, both of whom were alleged to be carrying firearms." There is nothing about that incident in either the Baton Rouge Advocate or the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Let's see if they can get him out of this one like they got him out of the last one when he was caught carrying counterfeit bills. His other run-in was a misdemeanor summons issued by police when he tried to get into a gambling casino using his older brother's driver's license.

Hey my Wolverines COVERED the spread! WOW! They never do that!
I am watching PSU vs OSU and I like what I see so far, PSU up 7-3!!!! YAY! (Actually, I think it is better for UM if OSU wins here, and loses in Ann Arbor.) |

Re: Appalachian State?
Yeah, I'm watching the same game but it's 10-7 favor of Ohio State right now and Ohio State is about to score again.
Wow! I had no idea Joe Paterno was still coaching Penn State. P.S. -- Now it's 17-7 favor of Ohio State.

Re: Appalachian State?
Getting back to LSU's problem child, Ryan Perrilloux, this is the most complete explanation I have found on one of the blogs:
TEXASTIGER22: "Say Goodbye to Derrick Odom and Jeremy Benton and possibly Ryan Perrilloux, although i'm sure they will find a way to keep him on the team. Last night at the Varsity, Derrick Odom decided to start a fight with one of the bouncers. He got his butt kicked and the fight carried outside as they pulled them behind the varsity to get them out. There was a three way fight with workers from the varsity, members of the football team, and the promoters of the event last night for some reason desided to go out and get involved. After everything was over Ryan P, JB, and Derrick Odom decide to start yelling how they are going to come back and "blow this <explicit> up" they also said they were coming back to "put holes in the <>". The LSU police came and no one was arrested. My good friend who was working behind the bar and had nothing to do with the fight was leaving work early as he passed a white truck (Derrick Odom's truck). Since he wasnt out while the fight was going on, he didn't think anything of it. He got in his car which was parked on Chimes Street facing the church to leave and he saw the truck pull in the middle of the street. Two guys came out of the truck while the driver stayed in. He recognized JB since he sees him up there all the time with his shirt pulled over his nose and another huge black kid with a ski mask over his face walking toward his car. He realised he had his varsity shirt on and punched the gas. He hit the door which was left open to help keep the road blocked so he couldnt get out and parked behind the varsity and ran back inside to tell everyone to lock the doors and call the cops. They called the police again and had to be escorted out one by one. When my friend was escorted back to his car his back window had been busted through and car was beaten up. Today he got a call from the GM of the varsity saying the cameras in the back are working and they showed Derrick Odom busting the window out with what appears to be a gun. These pieces of <> need to be thrown in jail an obviously kicked off the LSU football team. If it comes to be that Ryan was with them as well I don't give a <> if he is the future quarterback, he needs to be thrown in jail. I am not saying he was there when Odom and JB had guns at 3 am however he was there fighting and part of the group yelling they were coming back to put holes in the varsity bouncers. I don't know if this story is going to stay quiet or not but I know that my friends dad has been calling Skip B and Les Miles all morning to set up a meeting with them and the owners of the Varsity are not letting members of the football team in anymore. They also have a meeting set up on monday with Les Miles to inform him what happened. Fighting is one thing but guns are completely another. If they do try to keep ths quiet I figured there are enough people on here who will read this that will know what thugs those two guys are." The Doc: this is all true, confirmed by my roomate, the manager of the bouncers. bye bye odom, RP, and Benton. P.S. -- That's not the only report but it's the most detailed. It's amazing that this story is being kept quiet for so long. It happened at 2:00 a.m. yesterday. It's possible that the newspapers are waiting to see if charges are filed first??? Since it was Baton Rouge and it involved LSU football players, it's possible the police did NOT charge anybody with anything. They're probably still trying to figure out a way to cover it all up.
