Arrow Hurricane Humberto

Anybody else getting much rain from this thing? We've been getting wind and rain off and on for several hours. Looking at the radar, it looks like it should be passing to the northwest of me later this morning but it still woke me up early.

It's just a baby Category 1 with sustained winds of 85 mph. It should be downgraded to tropical storm soon. The actual eye of the storm is way over there by the Texas-Louisiana border but a lot of the heavy rain is to the east of the storm, as usual. (P.S. -- This is a live link, so the image keeps updating automatically. The position of the storm when you read this won't be the same as where it was when I first posted this.)

P.S. -- It's been dead calm outside for the past half hour or so and there is this gorgeous early morning rainbow! It's a spectacular sight!

Re: Hurricane Humberto

My power was out for the past 35 minutes. It just came back on. Humberto has been downgraded to a tropical storm with sustained winds of 65 mph but it's sure dumping a lot of rain way over here.

I just lowered my A/C thermostat to cool down my apt in case the power goes off again. I had it raised pretty high because I don't like cool air in the morning but with our high humidity, things can get pretty icky in a hurry even if the outside temperature is only in the 80's.

Hopefully the stupid power won't go out again. This must have been caused by a grid failure to the west of us because I can't believe we're getting any storm damage anywhere near here right now.

Re: Hurricane Humberto

The rain is really coming down heavy right now. It's been raining steady for the past couple of hours. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't lose power again. At least the temperature is down. It's only 75 F right now.

Re: Hurricane Humberto

I was just looking at the map and it looks like you guys are getting the rain dumped in buckets down there.

Re: Hurricane Humberto

We had a lot of rain yesterday evening and overnight. It was raining and blowing pretty heavy this morning at 5:30 when it woke me up. Then it calmed down a lot and the sun sort of peeked through. There was a gorgeous early morning rainbow at 6:30 a.m. It was really spectacular!

Right now it's just raining steady as it has been for the past couple of hours. We're not likely to have any winds to speak of or any damage of any kind. It's too weak and the eye, or whatever is left of it, is too far away from us, but we're under a local flood watch. That's nothing. They do that every time it rains down here.

If all the hurricanes were wimpy ones like this, it wouldn't be so bad at all. I'm just hoping we don't get anything above Category 2 this year.

Re: Hurricane Humberto

Well we're better than half way through the season and so far so good.
