Deleted threads, closed threads! What's the deal with this??

This is getting ridiculous! Will you people quit deleting and closing the threads you start? Some observations:

1) Don't post if you can't take the responses!

2) If you are going to post, leave it up for others to read and comment on.

3) Moderators: if a topic is receiving alot of attention, it's because it is apparently important to us as reef keepers. Unless someone is getting out of hand, which I haven't seen here at Reefland, even during the most passionate debate, don't intervene.

4) Ninong: I think you as a moderator should check you ego at the door and behave more professionally.

5) Reeflanders: you don't have to post every action you take with your tank! Ask questions, post helpful hints, share great pictures. Just don't post saying "I just ground up my Sally Lightfoot Crab and fed it to the cat," then expect applause.

Absolutely! Opinions will differ. Too many people here are thin skinned. I, myself, have been guilty of that at times.

This is infuriating to me! If you do not like the replies that you are getting, DON'T READ YOUR THREAD! Don't try to do the job of the Moderators unless you are a Moderator. Some exceptions apply, but they are rare.

True, but you will find that the Moderators here are far lees intrusive than at other boards. Sometimes to the point of causing harm. I feel that they should be more involved in those kinds of threads, but in a professional manner.

SPASSE's "Let's keep things civil" posts do wonders. Let's everyone know that they are being watched without interfering.

Sadly, I have to agree here. Ninong, you have really changed since you became a Moderator. I am not saying that you are power crazy or anything, but you do seem to be quite arrogent at times.

Knowledge is power and you have a lot of knowledge. Use it wisely.

Very true! If you don't want to get flamed, don't light the match.

No problem there.

Hmmm...getting kinda subjective here. Losing inertia.

Could you expound on how a professional pro bono fish board mod\babysitter is expected to behave? I'm kinda new at this myself...and I need something funny to stick on the fridge.

I must buy flowers... I can only assume Scott Z passed away and left all content to your whim.) He will be missed.
Congrats on the new aquisition though.
Will your new edict apply to General also? Or just the other forums.

BRAVO!!! Very well said....I agree to ALL OF IT!!

I deleted one thread....it was the Flamers! thread....and I deleted it because it upset ppl and was way off base from what I wanted to discuss...flaming (as well as the potential dangers it could of had).

I agree with you guys and I WONT delete anymore threads that I post....I promise....cuz it is the members (well 99.8% of em) here that make my time the most enjoyable

Im sorry to anyone who it upset.

I have made too many freinds here and I DONT want to upset any of them

Thank you!

You've proved my points about some of the moderators on Reefland! You can't get much more arrogant or condescending than your post!

I rest my case.

Glad to help.
I also found your post arrogant and condescending...but I wasn't going to say anything.

Well........first of all, and most importantly, this board is here for people to discuss reefkeeping. We have opened the General Discussion so people could "chit chat", not complain about the moderation or members.

Secondly, the Moderators of this board spend several hours daily to help out. Ninong, SPASSE and the others have contributed greatly to this community, and at one time or another have probably even helped you out. Coming here and discussing thier manners is very disturbing to me, since they volunteer their time to each and every one of us.

Thirdly, the deletion or modification of any thread is up to the Moderators. We are always willing to discuss the reasoning why action was taken, and will most likely make the reason apparent to the necessary individual prior to taking action. When action is taken, it is felt to be necessary.

Finally, this thread along with the others is closed. Let's get back to our passion friends....REEFKEEPING.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to e-mail me or send me a PM.

Scott
