Awesome...looks like my father in law.

How many days left 'til release?

I bet Aragorn has the countdown clicking off on some applet in the corner of his desktop.

I am so excited for this one. I am actually halfway through reading Silmarillion(sp?) for the first time, and am loving it.

Does it bother anyone that they aren't having Tom Bombadil in the movie? I thought they were trying to replicate the book as much as possible, but the more I read, the more I worry. I am still not too sure about the elisia wood thing...but we'll see how it pans out.

The trailer is pretty sweet.

I still think Sean Connery should have been Gandalf (sp?)

Yes. I was kinda upset or shall I say, disappointed that Tom Bombadill was not going to be in the story. I figured since they are making it a true trilogy, they should have plenty of time for him. But alas, at least the epic is finally being put to film! I think, just maybe that it's release date will be December 25, 2001. But I do believe that December is correct at least.

December 19, ok. Well maybe I'm wrong. I really don't want to wait in any line to find out their sold out . So maybe you all should just stick with the later date and be sure to spread it all around, allright.

Yes,
I follow theonering.net too. BTW, here's a link to the countdown:
http://www.theonering.net/movie/dates.html
Dec 19th seems to be the day.

I have a feeling that this movie is going to CREAM all other box office hits by a tremendous margin. I loved Star Wars and other hits, but LOTR is going to be the the #1 money maker for years(decades?) to come.

I'm looking forward to the events on Weathertop and, of course, the Mines of Moria.

Lord of the Rings - It's a movie (actually a series of movies) based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien.

thanks mandarin - I've got my favorite mask picture that I've yet to post. I have it in my work bag but just haven't gotten around to scanning it yet.

I first read TLOR when I was eleven or so. It has become THE book all others are measured against and are poor imitations of. I haven't made the book into my private religion, but I am worried about the movie because I have spent years building my own concept of the books. There can't be anything that could live up to my own mind pictures.
