What if a public school teacher told his American history class God doesn't exist and that heaven is a myth?
Do you think the teacher's job would be in jeopardy for injecting his personal atheistic beliefs into the history curriculum? I would imagine that some of the children might tell their parents that they just found out from their history teacher that God doesn't exist and that heaven is a myth. The parents might complain to the school principal or the school board that public school teachers have no business discussing theology in history class. The principal might even take disciplinary action against the teacher.
What do you think would happen if a New Jersey public school teacher told his American history class that evolution wasn't scientific and that there were dinosaurs on Noah's ark? What if that same teacher went even further and told the non-Christian children in his class that they belonged in hell? Don't you think the parents of the students so offended would be well within their rights to complain to the school principal that such teachers have no place in a public school?
First of all, you would have to get the principal to believe that the teacher actually said something so incredibly ridiculous to his history class. Since when does the Noah's ark myth qualify as American history? That's why 16-year-old student Matthew LaClair began secretly recording his teacher's comments in class.
What do you think the school board's response should be when confronted with such evidence? Well, for starters, they passed a new rule that students cannot record anything in class without prior consent of their teacher. That should take care of any future little non-Christian snitches. They also claim to have taken unspecified "corrective action" against the teacher.
The student involved said he has been ridiculed and threatened since his complaint became public. Meanwhile, the student complained that this same teacher recently told the American history class that scientists who warn about the dangers of global warming are using the same tactics Hitler used in repeating the same lies over and over again. The school board did not investigate the report of this comment because they said it is not religious in nature and not a violation of any rules.
So global warming is a myth but Noah's ark is not? No wonder our public schools are graduating students who are dumb as hell.
Here.
