Bird owners....urgently need your help

I know this is a long shot but anything to help my LFS. A Rainbow Lorakeet was stolen from our LFS last night. He needs a special diet too. Anyway, if any of you bird owners happen to frequent any bird forums and have a new member on the west coast(Tahoe specifically) inquiring about the needs of a Lorakeet, could you let me know? You see, what makes this worse is that Steve was babysitting this bird for a customer. This wasn't even a store bird. This is terrible. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Well good luck, hopefully you got a dumb crook that will sell it to someone who knows about the theft. In florida we have had organised gangs steal birds. Recently caught one guy, and found the birds in ohio.
Best bet is to also contact your local news people, you might get some coverage if it's a slow news day. Also you might try to keep some feathers,I heard someone was able to prove ownership of a stolen bird by DNA>

odds are criminals have the tendency to not be that smart so if i were a betting man, and i am, i'd say this dope isnt gonna get on and start a convo about them.... that'd show too much concern for someone elses well being let alone an animals.... well hopefully they catch that fool before he kills the bird..... everyone keep your ears open.

Thanks guys,
This is a pretty small community, so we're hoping. We've notified all pet stores in the Tahoe Basin and even got the local radio station to ask for the safe return of the bird. As we speak I'm printing up more flyers for the owner(he already distributed 100). We're hoping it was some kids and if their parents see the flyer, they'll do the right thing. We're offering a $100 dollar reward for his safe return. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

Rewards can work, my friend joe recovered all his birds but his African Gray. The thief's friend decided he needed some cash. Two police officers posed as buyers and BUSTED>. The thief wanted to cut a deal but no gray no deal. Think my friend still gets checks from jail for the payment for that bird.

Well this story certainly ended w/ a happy ending. "Beau", the Rainbow Lorakeet is now safely back at our LFS. He was recovered last night from a lady who had 2 different stories on how she came into possession of the bird. She stated she saw one of the flyers we printed and called. Steve didn't care. He was just glad to have the little fella back. The woman wouldn't even accept the $100 dollars. The owners of Beau get back tomorrow...WHEW!

Thanks Joanne. We were so worried about the little guy. Steve was literally losing sleep over it. He didn't know what he was going to tell the owners when they got back. Beau is also back w/ his favorite teddy bear(this bird has bonded with this thing I swear ), and Steve will sleep better I'm sure.
