It certainly took long enough:
They nailed him with 35 counts of conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering, insurance fraud and extortion. Your compassionate, conservative Republican party in action. The FBI has been investigating this guy for two years now. They could easily have indicted him before the 2006 mid-term elections but Attorney General Alberto Gonzales slowed down the investigation by delaying necessary approvals. Next up, John Doolittle and Jerry Lewis. P.S. -- He's one of McCain's co-chairs in Arizona. McCain said he's very sorry to hear this and he feels for the family. McCain campaigned for Renzi while he was under investigation by the FBI. Everyone in the GOP knew what was up, they were just hoping they could get him off. P.P.S. -- He co-starred with Katherine Harris in that infamous C-SPAN canoodling clip.

Re: Rep. Rick Renzi (R-AZ) finally indicted!
The GOP leadership in the House asked him to resign now but he refused. This is great! This story will get a lot more play as long as he's still a sitting member of Congress.
The Republicans have lots of possibilities for embarrassing stories hitting the news between now and November -- Stevens and Young in Alaska and Doolittle and Lewis in California. I expect all four of those jokers to be indicted before November.

Re: Rep. Rick Renzi (R-AZ) finally indicted!
Power Rankings?
Congress.org has something called "Power Rankings." I'm not exactly sure how they're calculated but it's interesting that Rick Renzi is dead last, below even the corrupt William Jefferson. Renzi is so low that they had to give him a minus number. They ranked the members of the Senate, too. Looks like Larry Craig is a bottom, but we already knew that. What I want to know is who is this dude, Sen. Barrasso (R-WY), who is beneath Larry Craig? What the hell did he do to beat out Craig for the honor of being dead last?
