Figured I should get some of these up here just to show that I was actually there.

First set is our temp. home and some of the folks that shared it for 4.5 days.

These are from the Neon Garage at the track on Friday. Kind of a screw off day. It;s practice day for both series and Sprint Cup qualifying later in the day.

This is from the Saturday Nationwide Series race. That is Lorie's driver, Mark Martin taking the checkered flag. Needless to say, she was really hard to live with that nite.

These last ones are from the Cup race on Sunday. The Thunderbirds fly over, the start of the race and a really nice save by Jamie McMurray!!!

When the hell were you in Vegas?!

Some nice pics...what camera were you using for it? I took some pics from Sat's race (I was in the deck below you, I do believe), but I haven't even had a chance to look at them yet. I don't think they will be as close as yours...I was only using a little Sony P&S. LOL

Oh, by the way...were you in the RV lot that was right off Hollywood Blvd near Las Vegas Blvd? (across from the construction) If so, I drove by you guys every night when leaving work. LOL

Remember seeing a TON of cars to your right side when coming down I-15 right next to the Speedway exit??? Ya, you guessed it.

Cool shots! I'm definitely going to have to find out when you guys buy tickets next year so I can get some at least in the same section.

I don't remember seeing the tons of cars, except in the parking lots after the races!!!!!

I have been in the Petty Terrace 2 years now, and will renew again this year around Memorial Day. We were thinking about another race, but I think I have her talked into Vegas again. I think there might be 2 races in LV next year, I am thinking about both of them. Turn 4 is a good spot too, we sat there the first time we went.

That was my first time inside the oval at LVMS (been at CA Speedway TONS of times). I've raced on the sport bike track that is on the outside of it (ironically where everyone in the "brown parking area" was parking. That's actually ON the race circuit itself!

), and I have seen a few NHRA Nationals at the LVMS "Strip"....but never inside the oval. So, it was pretty cool to see.

70-200 f/4L or f/2.8L? Just curious.

I figured you had to have some longer lens there and it wasn't a little point & shoot. LOL

Next year I'm thinkin' of takin' a 300 f/4 there. Hmmm...wonder if they'll let me in the gate with that mammoth thing around my neck?

It would be so awesome if they ran Vegas two times a year like they do CA Speedway.

Ya, on the west side of the 15, there is an auto auction there..just built in late '06...so that's why I was driving by the Hollywood RV lot every day.

It is an f/4L Mat.

Crap, if I would have known where you worked, we could have met out in Hollywood BLVD. for gosh sakes.

I just carried my whole camera bag in there Mat, all they do is search it at the gate. I was afraid that the shots would jiggle to much because I am not real confident with that lens yet, but I was fairly surprised, and rather happy with the way things turned out. The only problem was my backup battery failed me at the end of the race, man, I was PO'd!!!!

Ya never know when either a part is going to fail or you'll do something stupid. I was at the Long Beach Convention Center shooting the 2004 IMS Show (International Motorcycle Show) one time and since I stood up the entire time to shoot, I didn't think about it and put one of my CF cars in my back pocket.

Then I decided to shoot the BOSS show (the guys that ride the bike in the steel ball) and I went and sat down on the concrete.

Whooops....guess I won't be using that CF card anytime soon. LOL So, right then I learned that if I have a backup, it needs one too. LOL

Just like droppin' a cell phone in the $hitter....always have a backup.

Just kiddin' with ya bro!

PS The f/4 is a very sharp lens...I found mine to be sharper than my non-IS f/2.8 lens was.

Seriously though...you could do what all of us obnoxious pro photographers do when we really need a shot of his face...just call out his name and tell him he's the best...I almost guarantee he'll at least look up to see who's saying it.

Damn...gave away a trade secret. LOL

I'm not much into racing, the noise of it would kill me...

but I like to see pictures because of the colors and dynamics of it.

We tried that with Kyle Petty and we all pretty much missed the shot.

Thanx Gene, you are right, it is loud, especially where we were at the time alot of the shots in the garage were taken. I used to blame my hearing on too many rock concerts............................... Now I just settle for telling folks my first wife had a loud voice.

Couldn't be the fact that when they fire one of these cars up, it shakes the ground.
