Arrow How much is gas in your area? Enter your ZIP code to find out.

So, how high is it in your town?

Click on this link and enter your ZIP code to see gas prices in your area. Then post the results as a reply to this thread.

And then, if you want to feel better, enter ZIP code 93920 and see what you get. That's Gorda (Big Sur). The cheapest price for regular unleaded there today happens to be $5.399. The reason I remembered that is because when I lived in Monterey in the early 1980's, we used to remember to never, ever run low on gas anywhere near Big Sur.

I entered my previous ZIP (94109) in San Francisco and came up with Lowest $4.519, Average $4.639, Highest $4.799. And remember, that's for regular unleaded. Entering my Tracy, CA ZIP (95376), where I last lived, gave me an average of $4.549 -- only 9 cents cheaper and that 60 miles to the east of SF.

I entered my current Louisiana ZIP (70454) code and I came up with Lowest $3.789, Average $3.939, Highest $4.099. For regular unleaded. The Exxon station that I use charges only $3.959 for the middle grade (Exxon Plus), which is what I have to use. They charge $3.839 for regular and $4.079 for premium. Diesel is $4.639.

Re: How much is gas in your area? Enter your ZIP code to find out.

If you scroll all the way to the bottom of that page where you enter your ZIP code, they give you the national average, as well as the lowest price and highest price.

Right now the national average for regular is $4.059. The lowest price, $3.399, is in Dayton, WY. Nipton, CA has the highest price, $5.599.

I grew up in Mt. Prospect, how's the traffic back there these days?

Hi All,

Forney Texas

Lowest $3.79
Average $3.90
Highest $3.98

The two lowest, ($3.79 & $3.82) are the two closest to my house.

Regards,

Scott

Avg: $3.90
High: $3.92

But that isn't right because I seen it for $4.17 today.

For starters, you didn't enter Louisville, you entered Bardstown (40004) and Bardstown is so little you have only a few gas stations, which is why the range from lowest to highest is so small.

If you enter Louisville (40214), you get the following numbers:
Lowest: $4.129, Average: $4.169, Highest: $4.199.

Re: How much is gas in your area? Enter your ZIP code to find out.

I said Louisville because we are close to Louisville and I figured it would be recognizable more so than Bardstown. Secondly, I saw 4.17 in Bardstown this morning but it could be a station that doesn't report their prices.

Edit: I guess I did good today because I did pay only 3.89 which was reported as the lowest. However the Murphy's Oil at Wal-Mart is usually 0.01 - 0.03 cheaper than anyone else, perhaps they don't report theirs either?

I just moved out here from the West Loop at the end of August. I lived two blocks east of the United Center, replaced the old Stadium. So, I am not sure how traffic was like when you lived in Mt. Prospect, but its not to bad if you avoid Woodfield Mall on the weekends.

I am not sure if you have anyone living in Mt. Prospect any longer, but the day we closed on our house August 22, 2007, there was a series of strong thunderstorms with high winds and Mt. Prospect seemed to be the center of the high winds and lost close to 800 trees from the parkways alone. People in Mt. Prospect were with out power for over a week in some areas. We closed on our house in Arlington Hts. got to the new house and 75 minutes later we lost power for four days. Moved in with no power, lights or air conditioning. People across the street had power and offered to run an extinsion cord across the street, fourtunately I did not have a tank to move, but it was a great way to meet the some really nice nieghbors.

The Wal-Mart Murphy's Oil station is always the lowest down here, too, but they usually have lines. I always use an Exxon station that is on my way home and easy to get in and out of in a hurry. And their prices are almost always below the average. Right now they're $3.839 for regular and $3.959 for middle grade. That's a lot cheaper than California.

P.S. -- I know why you said Louisville. I'm just pulling your chain.

Re: How much is gas in your area? Enter your ZIP code to find out.

Kroger has the lowest gas here at $3.73 and if you use your Kroger card it goes even lower. By spending a minimum of I believe $100.00 there a month buying groceries we save an average of $.07 per gallon. Sometimes we have saved $.10.

At our current residence we can get most anywhere we need to go in less than 15 minutes. We bought bikes and have been riding the heck out of them. I've already saved close to $100.00 in gas for my car by riding mine. This has paid for 1/5 of the bike. My wife has saved around $150.00 because she has a truck paying for 1/3 of hers. This is over a month and a half period!

We did have to drop some cash for them but we got decent bikes and they should last us for a long time. They will pay for themselves and we're enjoying on and off road riding while keeping wear and tear down on our vehicles.

The Wal Mart here is the second lowest. Guess it's all that buying power..

Nope, no one left there that I know of, I left 35 years ago and never went back. Bummer on the T-storms tho, I do remember those.

I can't wait for 6.00 a gallon gas!
10% of the cars in our area will simply not be on the road anymore.
