I have been working on some more reasonably priced products for the reef enthusiasts, and thinking about starting a company part time out of my garage.
I have been selling a couple of things at the LFSs in the area, but I am starting to think about bigger fish (so to speak) and selling some products to some of the MO internet sites and nope, no retail at this point. But I am having trouble thinking up a good name for the company. The only thing I have thought up so far is "Oceanic Environments", but it doesn't overwhelm me and I don't know if anyone else is trademarked the name yet. So I ask you all for help, what should I call the company? Please no names of LFS or companies that already exist building anything (reef related or not). The winner of this little contest will win... something! Maybe a new ballast that I have been playing with when it gets out of prototypes and into production, or a wave maker/power head controller, or a new fail proof small surge device... but it will be something cool. Then I have to convince Scott here at Reefland to sell some of my stuff... ![]()

I'm not sure of the types of things you plan on selling, though I guess the ballasts and wavemakers may be a hint.
How 'bout, "Wavecrest Supply" or just "Wavecrests"?

well thanks for the ideas so far. I like several.
A little more about the ballast I am working on, tell me if you would buy one. 1- 4 bulbs up to 48 inchs up to 440 watts total VHO/HO/NO/PC, 115% bulb output, 20% extra bulb life, 10% lower bulb heat than a Tar ballast, X-10 controllable dimmer built in, 5 year warrenty exchange for right around $100.00 internet/retail.

Heck yeah! I'd buy it. However, I would want to see some comparisions with similar ballsts first.
